A St. Cloud lawmaker says he has changed his bill that would have barred all headwear in driver's license photos to allow for religious headwear.
Rep. Steve Gottwalt says his new bill is a compromise between public safety and cultural respect.
The Republican introduced a bill in 2007 and again this year that would have banned all headwear in driver's license photos to make them easier for law enforcement to use.

Cousin It will finally be able to get his Minnesota driver's license...
How the hell can they see where they are going when they are behind the wheel wearing those damn things?
Make them take a driving test while wearing those head dresses or whatever they are, then let’s talk about a license.
Will female drivers now be allowed to keep their veils on for their driver’s license photos? Wait by implementing sharia law in Minnesota women can’t drive so the problem is solved.
The opinions of normal people don’t count. Legislators care only about the special interest groups.
The people who founded Western Civilization and built it up are not worth [expletive deleted] to them.
Now if they did things would be far different.
“How the hell can they see where they are going when they are behind the wheel wearing those damn things?”
Trust me, they cannot....
How come I can’t have anything hanging from my rear-view mirror by law, but these scumbags can have their faces covered while driving?
Scumbags are a special interest group.....
Instead of doing it incrementally, why not just do it all in one go and mandate sharia law as the law of the land? We’re headed there anyway.
They can get in line behind me whilst I get my Christian mortgage loan, no /s
I’d like to know eggs ackley what is the range of headgear allowed in this law. If it’s a veil, covering the face, no way! But if it’s just a scarf covering the hair (not including mustaches and eyebrows) that’s not too bad. I never saw my Great Grandma Bupko without her headscarf.
What cultural respect?
There was an article in the Chicago Tribune recently about a young Moslem woman in a surburban high school who plays basketball for her high school dressed completely covered from neck to wrists to ankles and wears a head covering. She said it used to be real difficult until she discovered Under Armor. She’s her team’s leading scorer and is going to college on a basketball scholarship.
Yup, they'll be droppng by the school laundry pick up later to pick up some "used" stuff.
Japanese guys buy used panties from vending machines on the street.
All same thing. Mo can't win this one!
Our Legislature is filled with spineless, sh*t-for-brains
politicians. Is this really any surprise?
All they really care about is increasing taxes & thier per-diem allowances.
