As a quintessential member of the Dem foreign-policy establishment, you might expect Madeleine Albright to endorse Pres. Obamas pick of Chas Freeman as a matter of course. But appearing on Morning Joe today, the former Secretary of State twice pointedly declined to endorse the presidents choice to head the National Intelligence Council. Adding insult to injury, Albright downplayed the extent to which she had worked with Freeman, and offered a laughably lukewarm description of his skills . . .
Id encourage those seeking more background on Freeman, this Saudi lapdog and apologist for the Tiananmen Square massacre, to read Rich Lowrys column, Chas of Arabia, at National Review Online.
Freeman might well be Pat Buchanans kind of man on the Middle East, and it was Pat who put the question about him to Albright.

OMG !
Albright declines to endorse Chas Freeman ping to Today show list.
If NotSoBright can’t endorse this one, he must be gum stuck to her shoe.
blind pig; stopped clock!!
Mad Maddie got passed over for everything this time, didn’t she? Isn’t she sitting at home reading National Geographics waiting for the phone to ring? She don’t look too happy in that pic, either.
Well, if it is envy, I am disappointed but not surprised.
I hope that this is done out of some type of concern for national policy.
However, regardless of motive, this one HAS to hurt. I bet Mad has some more dirt on him that we have not heard, just yet.
Whoa...that’s akin to Russ Feingold not voting for the omnibus bill.
Freeman is a dangerous man with agendas we do not want any part of and he scares the crap out of me.
I bet since foreign policy is a bit like a lot of academic pursuits - triumph or style over substance - like academics petty jealousies are everywhere. I’m sure they all nurture grudges about where they had to stand at some reception, or whose name got mentioned after the intern’s or whatever.
Zer0’s friends have some very interesting backgrounds, supporters and people who don’t support them.

Interesting, I don't recall the circumstances but his diplomatic career ended early in the Clinton days.
Freeman will quietly withdraw his nomination tonight, during the slow news cycle. Betcha.
