Since when is a shotgun and a bolt-action rifle all it takes to have an “arsenal?”
Not a bolt-action, a Bushmaster AR-15 type. Illegal in his home state (no new assault weapons after a certain date) and also in MA without a permit (though he was just passing through). In MA he’s to young to posess a high-capacity firearm.
The Bushmaster had a pistol grip! We are dooomed! And a night scope! That probably frightened the cops. $100,000 bail?
It’s not an arsenal, but the reporter is from a state where hoplophobia and ignorance are required if you are to be a journalist.

? Looks like a Bushmaster AR to me. Or do they have a special non-assualt weapon version for states that don't allow full featured semiautomatic carbines. Bushmaster does have Post Ban models available, so it could be.
If the stuff was legal where he started, and legal where he was headed, as I'm sure it is in Maine, then he's protected by the Firearm Owners Protection Act, passed in 1986 under Ronald Reagan.
