Regarding salty talk aimed at the president (or other officials) vs visits from the SS
March 5, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Unfortunately, we are saddled with a communist sympathizer in the White House. I don't know whether or not he's an actual card carrying commie, but he's definitely an America-hating, anti-capitalist Marxist leftist who thinks communism is the way to go. Now I remember when America used to fight against communism. It wasn't that long ago. Many of us on FR are veterans of wars against communism and some of us believe that American citizens who are communists are the enemy within, ie, the domestic enemy we've sworn to defend against. American citizen? hmmmm... that may be a loophole for Obama.

At any rate, the oath is to defend our constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. I can imagine that this places an enormous strain on our Secret Service agents. It's obvious to anyone with a brain that Obama is an enemy of the constitution. So should the SS defend the constitution or defend the anti-constitution commie?

So now comes the problem. If you feel it's your duty to call Obama a traitor and use salty language in your proposed resolution, ie, suggest the commie be keelhauled, walked off the plank, run up the yardarm, tarred and feathered and run out of Dodge, etc, etc, etc, you may be facing a visit from your friendly Secret Service. And even though your visiting agent may agree politically, and may take his oath to the constitution seriously, he's still sworn to protect the officeholder and it's his duty to take all threats seriously. And that may include serving me with a subpoena to turn over your IP address. Now I'm duty bound to protect your privacy to the best of my ability, but I cannot defend against stupidity.

Best advice I can give is to keep it to yourself. Don't post anything that may embarrass you later, or end you up in the slammer.

Ever vigilant.

Keep your powder dry.

This Hussein-worship thread is hilarious, now that it’s been hijacked by the conservatives.

“The Constitution gives us several reset buttons...”

Sadly, the Constitution is no longer a valid document. The 1st Amendment is not recognized by this regime. The 2nd Amendment is on its way out. We saw the 4th Amendment wiped out with Elian Gonzales. So why would you think we can count on elections or impeachment?

“...the left wants to act like idiots and make quasi-racist remarks...”

Speaking of which, in one of Hussein’s speeches last week he mentioned something being a “sacred cow”. That sounds racist to me, since sacred cows are specific to the Eastern Indian cultures. I want him to apologize for that racist remark.

It’s sad to see that we have traitors among our veterans.

The 1st Amendment is not recognized by this regime.
I keep reading this here. Can someone explain to me in what way it's true?

First of all, if the 1st Amendment isn't "recognized" any more, how is Free Republic still online? How did thousands of people manage to stage "Tea Party" protests the other week with no interference whatsoever? How is it that there's a YouTube video with a supposed Marine (who is oddly unfamiliar with the full text of the Oath of Enlistment) calling for armed insurrection that has been viewed 100,000 times?

In a totalitarian regime, or a fascist dictatorship, these things wouldn't exist. They'd be pulled off line about as fast as they get put up. Do a little research on what you can see on the Internet from inside China and compare to what you can see here (everything).

Believe me, if the 1st Amendment weren't working, that last indicator you'd see would be people complaining about it in public.

...but I cannot defend against stupidity.

Well said.

I would like make to another point, if I might.

Some of the accusations / insults / borderline threats against Obama diminish the credibility of this site. First of all, some of them are obviously, factually wrong. Others, use rhetoric completely out of proportion to what is being discussed.

Both types limit our ability to persaude others, making us look like extreme right-wing loons and, as such, not be taken seriously.

My own example -- when the financial crisis started in September, I visited the Business/Economics forum daily and I learned a great deal about finance just by reading the many informative posts.

Lately, it has become impossible to read a thread on that forum; the screeching, name-calling, etc., have completely drowned out thoughtful, analytical posts.

Fortunately, a freeper referred me Calculated Risk, where I now follow their discussions.

The Dow is in full retreat, 401ks are dropping like stones, unemployment and debt on the rise and the Marxist catastrophe has barely begun.

It doesn't sound like you are on the "Great Unifier" bandwagon......

Okay, so no salty talk about Mr. 0bama. Does that mean he’s not worth his salt?

Cactus Jack Garner once told Lyndon Johnson that the vice-presidency "wasn't worth a bucket of warm spit," because "the Vice President is just a waiting boy, waiting just in case something happens to the President."

In this case, I think it applies to both of those at the top of the executive branch. (And Cactus Jack didn't actually use the word "spit" either.)

I already made the mistake of making a derogatory statement against “the messiah” on a newspaper blog site and got a visit from the SS within 6 hours. I invited them in and and allowed them to conduct their interview. They were very polite and were just “doing their job”. They asked me if I had anything “against the president” and wondered if I attended any political rallys where he spoke. The whole process took less than an hour. I learned my “lesson” when it comes to messing with anything “Obama”.

Another reason to NOT to use the words President Obama. See, it’s for YOUR protection :)

But, if one would use words like The Commie, or The Big-Eared One, would that be ok?
