The Prime Minister flew home from his successful trip to Washington this morning with the 'special collector's box' of films hidden in his luggage.

No 10 had tried to keep the present a secret, refusing to answer reporters who asked what President Obama had given to mark the reaffirmation of the special relationship.

However, the Evening Standard discovered the truth through White House insiders.

I bet Obama had those DVDs leftover from his last Winter Solstice Festival.

I'm sure a British thrift store could pull in enough to buy some tea with the proceeds. Not enough for crumpets, but enough for the tea...

A part of me wishes the Brits had sent the DVD's back to Amazon.com and had the check forwarded to the White House with a note explaining that we must need the money more than they do...

Prime Minister Brown should be thankful these two didn't give him a gift certificate to Burger King, the highest prize where Michelle comes from, you know what I'm talking about?!

Star Wars on DVD. Hmm. I think anyone over 40 who hasn’t seen it yet has no interest in it.

I have a DVD player that plays both NTSC and PAL. I found it online and it wasn’t that expensive.

Even more appropriate might have been a gift of Martin Gilbert's recent addition to his classic Churchill works: Churchill and America, published in 2005.

Disgusting...Insulting...And totally ON PURPOSE.

Seems PBO wants to make nicer with the Taliban and Syria than he does with Great Britain and Israel....

I hope he checked to see that these were PAL versions,
or have no region restrictions.

The European DVD players are a different coding than ours, unless they have changed in the last several years.

It would be that much more insulting if he gave him something that doesn’t even work
