In a move that has been brewing for quite some time, but only reached critical mass within the last 48 hours, 3/4 of the Republican Party of Virginia's State Central Committee have signed on to a letter asking RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick to step aside. Why is the 3/4 number significant? Well, that is the amount required in order to forceably remove a chairman from office...
We've been hearing from multiple sources off-the-record over the past two days that such a move was imminent and that the letter would soon be delivered. That letter was delivered late this afternoon. While we have not yet seen a copy of the text of the letter, we understand that the State Central members who signed on to the letter gave Jeff 30-days to step aside or else be removed by a vote of the SCC.

Why? On what grounds? I signed up today to be a delegate to the convention.
“State central members say that asking Frederick to resign is not due to any political disagreements, but that poor fundraising, the loss of three congressional seats and the US Senate last November, and his preference to use a technology firm which he has a personal interest in have caused the loss of confidence.”

True. Last fall was rough. Thanks for the link.
If this is true, it is a big mistake. The election of Jeff was a major coup for those of us who wanted to change the failed leadership of the party. Hager and his predecessors presided over the decline of the party. Frederick is the solution, not the cause.
That may have changed since, and it certainly takes a while to revise a culture; certainly longer than over the last several election cycles.
The sad status of the Repub party in VA amazes me, in a state where it should be preeminent. But it takes considerable time to change things, both in the internal culture and in the perceptions of the electorate, and I would certainly hope there be no reactionary decisions based on the recent disasters.
You might be right. If, however, he’s been pushing to use his own technology firm, then I’m not comfortable with that. Lining his pockets with our donations and we lost key races to boot - not such a good combination.
I also attended a VA Rep retreat a few months ago where Jeff and other VA Rep luminaries were present. There was some unhappiness because Jeff represents change and doing things differently, which is why we elected him. We are tired of losing. VA is becoming a blue state for a number of reasons, including demographics and immigration. Jeff is not the problem.
