RIO DE JANEIRO — A 9-year-old girl who was carrying twins, allegedly after being raped by her stepfather, underwent an abortion Wednesday despite complaints from Brazil's Roman Catholic church. Police said the stepfather has been jailed since last week. Abortion is illegal in Brazil, but judges can make exceptions if the mother's life is in danger or the fetus has no chance of survival. Dr. Manny Blog: Tragedy of 9-Year-Old's Abortion Fatima Maia, director of the public university hospital where the abortion was performed, said the 15-week-old pregnancy posed a serious risk to the 80-pound (36-kilogram) girl. "She is very small. Her uterus doesn't have the ability to hold one, let alone two children," Maia told the Jornal do Brasil newspaper. But Marcio Miranda, a lawyer for the Archdiocese of Olinda and Recife in northeastern Brazil, said the girl should have carried the twins to term and had a Caesarean section. "It's the law of God: Do not kill. We consider this murder," Miranda said in comments reported by O Globo. Calls to Miranda were not immediately returned. Brazil is home to more Catholics than any other nation.

It happened here not too long ago. An illegal raped a 9 year old in Pheonix. Have no fear he walked out of a Pheonix courtroom less than two weeks ago.
These men need to be tried for the murder of the babies that end up being aborted. Then hung by the object that caused them to have such little regard for their victims in the first place.
Can you imagine if that poor little girl went through with having a baby from a rapist. Stop being so judgmental!

The one in Pheonix was already a jail inmate because of the rape of the 9 year old. He was in court over two other rapes but he was wearing street clothes so the jury wouldn’t be biased against him. He managed to pick a lock and walked out of the courthouse.
I am sure it was not her decision. Nine years old is a baby herself. She was raped by a man who should be castrated and put in prison for the rest of his evil days. The abortion is disgusting but maybe the doctors were right and the 80 pound girl would have died even before she was full term. Then all three would have died.
Prayers. What a terrible travesty. A nine year old’s body is not even fully developed. Her brain is not even close to being completely developed either.
I know that God will forgive this innocent child who certainly has no real idea of the depth of what has happened to her.
So is forcing a 9 yr. old to carry twins to term. The child was raped. But I forgot--the Church has a habit of looking the other way when it comes to pedophilia. I'm a former Catholic who is pro-life, but there should be exceptions, and this is one of them.
Life is life. It was murder. Still, I don’t judge the child.
If there were even a sembalnce of justice in this case the Rapist Scum would be subject to the same sentence imposed on the unborn.

I’m sad for the 9yo and the babies too. None of them asked for what happened to them.At almost 4 months along they were not just blobs.What a doubly horrible thing for that poor girl to have to go through victims all around.I hope the step father is punished properly.

Lack of reading comprehension skills? You are the one that seems more concerned about the abortion than the welfare of the poor little girl. Apparently, I am not the only one that feels this way!
It was not okay to abort the babies. It was sin. It was murder regardless if it was a 9 year old or a 39 year old. We can’t white-wash the lives that were taken because of what happened to the little girl. Two lives were ended. Why? Because of a perverted pedophile who needs to be killed.

And I suppose the abortion had absolutely no impact on her and won’t haunt her for the rest of her life?
Unfortunately, it will likely have physical and emotional repercussions on her. Which is why men who do these things need to get death in response. This man has ruined this poor child’s life. He stole her childhood and caused two children to lose their lives. There aren’t words for these kinds of scum.
