Peter Schiff: ”The US economy is broke. We borrowed trillions of dollars and we used all that money to finance consumption and we don’t have anything to show for it. We don’t have real factories. We didn’t take the money the Japanese and Saudis loaned us and build factories so we can export products to pay off that debt. We spent all the money on TV sets , on SUVs , on re-modeling our kitchens. We can’t pay it back . That’s why all these entities are collapsing. That’s why Wall street is in so much trouble because they engineered all these loans that have now gone bad.”

Jim Rogers : “Mr Paulson, Mr Bernanke and the guy at the NY fed have been wrong every week . Why would you listen to them?” “Why should anybody have to bailout a bunch of 29 year olds driving Mazarottis?. What about all the people in countries that minded their manners, saved their money, didn’t get overextended and now all of a sudden they are being asked to bailout a bunch of guys on Wall Street that were incompetent at best, some of them crooks? I find it outrageous.”

Jim is asked if we need the bailouts to avoid a depression.
Jim Rogers Answer
:”We had the worst excesses in the credit market in world history. You think we will just wake up and say ‘we had a horrible period of excess and now everything’s OK’? We are going to have to take some pain. Never before in world history could people buy houses with no money down. Many people bought 4 or 5 houses with no money down and no job, and then they did it with cars , and student loans, and credit cards. You think we’re going to say ‘Oh well, let’s start over. Nobody loses his job?’’”

Rick Santelli and the “Rant of the Year” –(on video)

George W Bush May 17,2002 :”Freddy Mac will launch 25 different initiatives to eliminate home-ownership barriors. Under one of these, consumers with bad credit will get amortgage with an interest rate that automatically goes down after a period of consistent payments… I’m serious about this. This is a very important initiative for all Americans, a chance for us to empower people….”

Save this Bush video link for the next Bush-bot that pings you with : "Bush fought like hell to get congress to increase the lending standards, but Barney Frank fillibustered the entire congress to stop it"

Barney Frank knew he had an easy win here, easy loans, easy elections.

WHOA, HOLD IT, THIS IS A LIE...I watched the FOXNEWS SPECIAL IN DEC08 on who caused the meltdown. FoxNews showed three clips of PRESIDENT BUSH WARINING CONGRESS ON FREDDIE AND FANNIE...VIDEOS DON’T LIE! There was one in 2001...another in 2002, or 2003, and John Snow (SEC) sent by President Bush in 2004 testifying before Congress that Freddie and Fannie were out of control and needed reigning in, and Barney Frank, Dodd, Raines all testifying how great shape they were in. Someone on this post is lying!!! Brett Baer and David Aston??? did the special report....

RE :w’s remarks are a perfect example of bipartisanship” and “can’t we all get along?,

I think it's more than that. I think he honestly believed that moving the poor into their own houses would turn them into responsible republicans that get two jobs. Now poor liberals took over the country side and get lots of tax $$$ to support them. Similar with illegals. He also believed giving the vote to Palestinians would turn them into freedom-american loving people like the Europe East Block. rats were right, he was incredibly naive; Yes, you are right too about his win them with love theory, fits in

Here this is one of the FoxNews reports, but there is a two hour special they showed twice in December, that has it all.

It’s infuriating to listen to these people, especially Bush Paulson, and Bernanke. And somehow the joke in the white house now is able to blame this on the free market. Republicans suck, Democrats suck more.

RE :”THIS IS A LIE.....VIDEOS DON’T LIE”

Yes,that's true. The videos you cite (at least 2006 or later) surfaced last Fall and were posted here and played on talk radio. But they didn't get GWB off the hook. Why? Because he did NOT warn us publicly about this problem himself like he did on 1) WMDs, 2) the TARP speech. Instead he was pitching HIS great economy, and his home-ownership boom all one in the same. Another Freeper recently pinged me with#12 "...Bush going to Congress in 2006 and stating that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were insolvent", . He, his supporters and talk radio all pitched his huge economic boom so he had to get the blame last fall resulting in Obama.

. But if Bush really knew things were bad and encouraged to buy more houses and stocks near peak to delay the crash past the election, that was criminal. He needed to make a speech about 2005 or earlier and warn us to slow down investing/house buying before the prices got so high the crash would be huge. Either he was clueless or criminal

I saw that , but see my #12. Frank had good reasons to encourage the disaster, more power, That doesnt explain #12

I just posted you the link that says he DID WARN PERSONALLY IN 2001, just because they show him walking across the lawn in video doesn’t mean he didn’t actually warn congress as Brit Hume said he did either by voice or letter...either way they did NOT listen...then 9/11 happened.

Good point. I keep seeing excuses that Bush half-heartedly objected to the mortgage problem, but he didn't push hard using his bully pulpit. I don't think he was totally clueless, because he did bring up the subject. Who knows.

RE :”I just posted you the link that says he DID WARN PERSONALLY IN 2001, they did NOT listen...then 9/11 happened.

April 2001?? Who cares? He encouraged millions of americans and foreigners in other countries to continue to invest/ buy houses in 2005-2008 at dangerously high prices to extend the myth of his booming economy. If he knew this in 2001 like that FNC narrator claims he is a terrible person. This is why democrats won two elections.

Bush never made a speech that Freddie and Fannie were alright, and you can encourage home ownership at any time, in fact I would trust my money in housing now in bad times more than the banks. Nothing is safe right now.

The democrats have raged against Bush for 8 yrs trying to turn everything into his fault, and I think that May 17th comment in your post is really what Barney Frank said, but I have no proof....it sounds somewhat like the clip Oreilly played the night he blasted Frank.

Do you know what a stampede Bank Run we would have had if Bush had stood up and told people the banks were in serious trouble???? Noone would have a job for every bank would have failed. Do you know how money deposits work, or have you ever taken an economic course?? Bush making that kind of announcement would have been irresponsible, as it were they tried to handle it in only way possible, and we are in serious financial trouble in this country, and we may have a great depression yet if the Obamanuts don’t get it right!

In 2005-2007 there was a boom in this country in real estate, and no reason for him to know it would crash at the end of 2008, it was Freddie and Fanny he was warning about because the they guaranteed mortgages, before the gov’t took over. I sold a house and made money in end of 2007, to the first person who looked at it. So either you are a Bush hater, or just not able to understand economics.

RE :”..and I think that May 17th comment in your post is really what Barney Frank said, but I have no proof....

That May 17th statement above you reference is from the youtube video of your hero GWB at the link I gave this post. Stop listening to Hannity and Levin! I gave them up, you can too. de-Hannitize

To all you non-Bush worshippers I pinged. This is example of what certain talk radio hosts do. This poor freeper sees a post of GWB doing the exact opposite of what he was told. And then the Hannity implanted chip commands his thoughts“This is a lie, it was really Barney Frank that said that

Thank you Kackikat, you proved a point I have been making for a while. you are not alone. Free yourself. Its the only way we can win elections again.
