The fate of the F-22 Raptor fighter jet, assembled by Lockheed Martin Corp. in Marietta, wont be known until April when President Obama details his budgetary priorities, administration and congressional officials said Thursday.
The presidents budget includes $534 billion for the Department of Defense, a four percent increase over the current budget. Obama and other administration officials have hinted recently, though, that money for big-dollar weapons systems like the F-22 will be cut.
The president, in his Tuesday address to Congress, promised to reform our defense budget so that were not paying for Cold War-era weapons systems we dont use. Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), whose district includes the airplane factory, hopes Obama wasnt talking about the F-22.

Israel will buy them. As will Australia.
Obama is determined to gut our military.
Enemy in the wire.....and his name is Hussein !
The F-22 Raptor May Be Replaced By...Sniper Blimps?
*****************************EXCERPT*************************
Originally designed to fight the Soviets in WWIII, the F-22 Raptor has never seen combat. And now, Barack Obama needs to decide whether to keep building them or kill the plane forever.
Lots of Jobs on the line....
They can’t. Not the good ones.
The Soviet Union was long dead when the Raptor was developed. It’s hardly a Cold War weapon system.
I wish they would ... and use them.
“that money for big-dollar weapons systems like the F-22 will be cut.”
We’ll only buy three of them since that’s what military genius Obama thinks is all we need.
It will never be exported to Israel, because of the sensitivity of the technology, and the dubious record of Israel in brazenly exporting American technology to China.
They sent details relating to the F-16, in the late-80s to China, via the Lavi fighter plans, and nearly came close to selling the secretive AWACS force-multiplier radars. In fact, for the AWACS, they were adamant in seeing the sales go through to China, until they were strong-handed in the last minute.
FIRST FA-22 FIGHTERS DELIVERED TO LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE. These are great in-flight photos of the FA-22 as the first aircraft delivery was being made to Langley AFB in Va. Langley is to be first operational AFB for the FA-22. It is a very beautiful AFB, located in a picturesque location, as you can see in these photos, near Norfolk and Hampton, Va.
The aircraft flying along with the FA-22 in the last of these photos is the F-15, which will be replaced by the FA-22 which is several times better. In actual In-flight (simulated) combat operations against the F-15, two FA-22s were able to operate without detection while they went head to head against (8) F-15s. The FA-22s scored missile hits (kills) against all the F-15 Aircraft and the F/A-22s were never detected by either the F-15s or ground based radar. Maj. Gen. Rick Lewis said: 'The Raptor operated against all adversaries with virtual impunity; ground based systems couldn't engage and NO adversary aircraft survived'!
FA-22 --- America 's most advanced fighter aircraft for the 21st Century! They're a titanium and carbon fiber dagger. They're so advanced that if their on-board locator is switched off even our own satellites can lose track of them. They're the first military aircraft ever built that is equipped with a 'black-out button'. What that means is this: The best conditioned fighter pilots are capable of maintaining consciousness up to in the vicinity of 15+ G. The Raptor is capable of making 22+ G turns. If someday an adversary builds a missile that is capable of catching up to one of these airplanes and a Raptor pilot sees that a strike is imminent, he hits the 'b.o.b.' and the airplane makes a virtual U-turn, leaving the missile to pass right on by. They know that in the process he'll temporarily lose consciousness, so the Raptor then automatically comes back to straight and level flight until he wakes back up.
Amazing, and Obama wants to kill this weapon? I still cannot believe this man is our president.
Oh, too bad. It’s a nice plane, and somebody should use it.
Zero has:
1) Crushed the stock market
2) Compromised the civilian government with the appointment of numerous incompetent crooks
3) Is attempting to gut the military.
Coincidence?
I think NOT!
I don’t think it’ll ever be exported.
The F-35, yes. But not this. And for very good reasons.
And I guess we won’t use it on our enemies, either.
This 15+ G's for the F-15, and 22+ G's for the Raptor is also nonsense. F-15 rated to 9 Gs, and if you factor a 1.5 G-limit for over-engineering, you end up with 13.5 G's. And anything over 9 G's in a straight pull in an F-15 is an over-G and requires detailed post flight inspections. I won't even go into the 22 G stuff.
The F-22 is a great jet but we don't need to make up stuff about G-loading and automatic maneuvers.
Lots of jobs all across the country gonna be lost if they decide to stop this assembly line.
