Idaho is poised to fight the invasion of quagga mussels, tiny little creatures that wreak tremendous havoc in waterways and water pipes.
The mussels are typically introduced into new states by infected boats. The mussels produce millions of eggs that get stuck on boat hulls and in bilges. Once in a river, they move downstream.
The House State Affairs Committee on Wednesday unanimously voted to print a bill sponsored by Rep. Eric Anderson, R-Priest Lake, requiring all boats in Idaho waters to have a special sticker that would fund prevention programs.

Reason? To fund combating these annoying little clams, however it's an issue that Idaho doesn't have yet that I can find.
Looks like closest infestation is Mead Lake, and back in '07 was found on a trailered boat heading through Idaho on its way to the coast, not to be put into Idaho waters.
Save the money.
Start a rumor that these tasty little morsels enhance sexual performance and penis growth.
China will not only buy them, they will pay extra for one day delivery.
You're right about Lake Mead. Lakes Havasu and Mohave are also fighting the problem. These mussels in short order can seriously clog any intake/outtake pipes.
Since I live down here in the desert where the water wars are still being fought, I consider this to be a proactive and cost-effective piece of legislation. I haven't heard of any problem in Idaho, however. Let's hope it stays that way in your beautiful state.
But we have been taught that diversity is good! What is wrong with quagga and zebra mussels?
Who says it's a rumor? I happened to be an unidentified specialist in the
field of using my muscles for sexual enhancement.
You need to be Secretary of Commerce! With a mind like that, we would be out of this mess in a few days. LOL
The zebras are in some lakes here. They’re nasty little buggers.
These things apparently breed like Tribbles, only they're a lot less cute and fuzzy.
