A man shot and killed an intruder who was assaulting his 34-year-old son, Weatherford police said today.
Robert E. Bardwell, 57, entered the home in the 500 block of South Rusk Street and began attacking the son, police said. The dad fired a warning shot into the ceiling, but the attack continued. The dad then fired at Bardwell.

He wasted a bullet and did damage to his own home. Under an obama administration, it is probably very advisable not to waste ammo on warning shots.

Well, some people really don’t want to take another life, and want to give the perpetrator every chance to stop what they’re doing. I understand it. Not sure I would....

Warning shots are dangerous unless they are into a pile of earth.
Verbal warnings are enough, and those are not always appropriate.
To: Texican72
The warning shot was the last vestiges of politically correct liberalism leaving the shooting hand.

A warning shot is blowing his kneecap off, he will live and now he knows you mean business.

True. Fixing the ceiling is a whole lot cheaper than paying lawyers.

Warning shots are dangerous unless they are into a pile of earth. Verbal warnings are enough, and those are not always appropriate. I like warning shots: two warning shots in the chest, and one between the eyes.

That would depend upon whether you can make a clean shot without hitting your loved one.

Some of us don’t want to give up our lives easily.
I will shoot first- then worry.

The only reason to fire a weapon at another person is to end a threat to you or someone else. Only shoot to kill!
To: LukeL
A warning shot is blowing his kneecap off, he will live and now he knows you mean business. Not me. If he quits because I crippled him some liberal jury may require me to support him for the rest of his life. If you make it a terminal event, he doesn't get to tell his side of the story - this helps eliminate a lot of confusion.

Good thing this didn’t happen here in MA. Son and dad would be in jail. ACLU would be comforting family of dirtbag as they prepared to sue father for $ 40M.

Bardwell, who appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds... It's good to be cautious when writing this sort of story. I mean, those fifteen bleeding holes in his chest might have come from somewhere else.
