With his attack on Rush Limbaugh, RNC Chairman Michael Steele reads from the Democrats' playbook

Why do officials of the Republican Party continually align themselves with the views espoused by their ideological opponents? That is the question I mulled after hearing RNC chairman Michael Steele inveigh against prominent conservative spokesman Rush Limbaugh. Steele's comments were particularly injudicious in view of the fact that his criticism was straight out of the latest talking points memo of the Democratic Party.

In an effort to silence conservative opposition to Obama's unprecedented expansion of the federal government, the Democratic Party has unleashed a concerted attack against one of its principal spokesmen. The two pronged attack, regurgitated dutifully by the media, consists of characterizing Republicans as the party of "No" as well as demonizing Rush Limbaugh as an extremist. Even if Steele believed that Limbaugh is somehow poisonous for the Republican Party, why would he elect to be a willing participant in this artifice? Does he feel that perpetuating the myths and non sequiturs of the Democratic Party somehow elevates Republicans?

Rush Limbaugh is not infallible, nor should he be immune from criticism. Limbaugh is nonetheless, one of the mot articulate spokesman for conservatism. He believes that the Republican Party should be a conservative party in the sense that it should stand for certain immutable principles, one of which is the belief…

Personally I am not contributing to the RNC, I am contributing directly to the candidates of my choice.

The RNC letter is good ... all about how the black voter is basically conservative; and can be won back ... of course with funds to get the message out to them .. I am not convinced the RNC has ever gotten the message out very effectively, since Reagan. and Palin.

I thought Steele would make a good RNC Chairman. Turns out he sucks.

1. Attacks Rush Limbaugh
2. Agrees the GOP Convention looked like "NAZI GERMANY"
3. Refuses to say he wants Obama's anti-economy policies to fail
4. Keeps going on TV instead of rebuilding party infrastructure.

The GOP is just “Democrat light”. Same corruption. Same socialism. Just implemented more slowly.

How much was Michelle’s makeover?

Who says that Republicans are the ideological opponents of the Democrats. They differ in the means not the end. They both worship the almighty state and both have the goal of expanding it to the point where everything not mandatory is forbidden and the government having means of enforcing that.

There - this should make more sense. Why do officials of the Republican Party continually align themselves with the views espoused by their ideological opponents

He did not apologize, he a politicians trick in order to say he was sorry if anyone was offended. So long as that RINO is the head of the RNC they get no cash from me.

I believe in the long run, the RNC would have been better to bring in a major Latino name, and start to split the Latinos from the Democratic party. Lets face facts...in twelve years....the minority in America will be Latinos, not Blacks. I think this would be a better judgment call for future wins.

The trouble is the RNC needs leaders who understand that getting along with the socialist agenda of destroying America isn’t what we want or need. Steele’s criticism of Rush was a moment of alignment with the enemy of freedom.Steele needs to go.

No, I’m so sick of RINO’s in the party that I actually left it for the Conservative Party. You can have Progressive Lite and all the Snowes and Hagels that go with it.

When does the opportunity arise or do we have to wait until he steps down...will contacting the RNC about have any effect.
I’m not opposed to replacing but all the snipping doesn’t accomplish anything but give ammo to the left.
