I've never listened to Rachel Maddow (though I have watched her effectively run the Indianapolis Colts offense), so I can't comment on her.
But Susan is out of her mind if she thinks Keith Olbermann could ever effectively counter any of Limbaugh's positions. Olbermann only rebuttals would be fat jokes and something about Rush eating poopy.

What is being missed here is the fact that our government in the form of the White House is attacking a private citizen and his right to free speech.
When Nixon made similar mistakes he was excoriated for it. How times have changed. Now the press is willing to carry the water for someone who is attacking the very right under which they work proving they have traded journalism for propaganda and style for substance. Ed Morrow is rolling in his grave.
Sad thing is that this attack on Limbaugh is just the opening salvo of a war to kill conservative talk radio with some form of Fairness Doctrine likely through FCC regulations. Obama will tolerate no criticism and wants Republican members of Congress to know their place by staying on the reservation and kowtowing to Reid and Pelosi. That Rahm Emmanuel is in daily telephone contact with the major media outlets and issuing their talking points is chilling. It is little different than Joseph Goebbels dictating what the German media would say about Hitler.

Of course it is dangerous for a Dem to attack Rush - 90% or more Dems are no-where near a smart as Rush. He could take any of them apart in a debate.
Rush just issued a challenge to the Messiah to come on his program for a one-on-one debate.
Never happen, Obama - or his handlers - are just smart enough to know when they are over-matched.
Susan is right that picking a fight with Rush is a strategic mistake, especially this early. Rush will be fired up, and help the GOP focus on the issues at hand with renewed vigor leading into the 2010 elections. I expect us to pick up enough seats to limit his agenda.
But he has deep roots. I just reupped my Rush 24/7 subscription.
