McCain strikes again.
I can’t believe that man was our candidate..
I have long been a champion of the Line Item Veto. But, 0bama is making me rethink my position.
At least it’s not a Line Item Add capability...
Dream on...it isn’t going anywhere. Not even a test drive.
I could barely stand to watch him on the news when he was our candidate. I voted for him, of course, and worked for his campaign (because even he would have been better than Barry-the-future-Stalin). But I just don’t see why he seems to feel called to do everything possible to sabotage his own party. I hope he doesn’t run for Senator again.
Super deal for a president not ballsy enough to just veto a bill he didn’t like.
Somehow the authority and power of congress is now delegated to the president
so he can “re-write” the bill to his own liking and then get
congressional approval for it.
This simply turns the constitution on its head.
No, I think, like me, you really voted against Obama.
I wish I agreed. But Barry is being given permission to do things that no other president has ever done. And if he doesn’t get it, he just goes ahead and finds some other, sneakier way of carrying out his plan.
Yes, that’s exactly it.
Very bad idea; alters the balance of powers. Effectively lets the President re-write legislation before he passes it. I wouldn’t want Bush to have that power and it sure as heck would be a disaster now.
Strike it down, do it again, Strike it down, do it again....
Oblahblah isn't interested in a line item veto. He's more than happy to spend all congressional requests.
And congress would never give it to the president. Dems would hate to see it in the hands of a true conservative president, which is how it ended up in the Supreme Court decades ago.
If it aint PORK for his Union and Acorn buddies he will strike it out!
“My friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...my friends...”
The reason why the SC ruled it unconstitutional was because it tied the hands of future Congresses. I guess if they passed it on a term-by-term basis, it could pass muster.
“Sens. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., and John McCain, R-Ariz., and Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., on Wednesday will announce the introduction of a Line-Item Veto Act,”
Some familiar idiots in that list.

Next year, they'll amend this, adding the "Line Item Refundable Veto Credit." This will allow funds to be added to any line for any purpose. </sarcasm (I hope) >
It will never happen, sheets Byrd will shred it.
