That's incorrect. McCain never produced his birth certificate to the public.

The images on the Internet that people have claimed to be McCain's birth certificate were provided by a rather shady character named Donald Lamb, and they were used by Hollander AGAINST McCain in Hollander's eligibility lawsuit against McCain.

The birth certificates claimed to be McCain's actually refute McCain's claim that he was born at the family hospital at Coco Solo Naval Air Station. They birth certificates supplied by Donald Lamb show McCain to have been born at the Colon Hospital, in Colon, Panama.

So, either McCain is lying, or the documents provided by Lamb are forgeries.

Bottom line though, McCain never produced his birth certificate to the public.

I was never under the impression that he was born on base. I knew all along that he was born in a hospital in Panama. That didn't change the fact that his naturalization was regularized by later legislation that covered lots of births to citizens who were outside the US when the baby was born.

There was never any serious question that McCain is a 'natural born citizen'.
