If only Chimpy Bushitler hadn’t squandered all those Euros on his illegal genocidal Cheney/Halliburton war for oil, there would have been enough to make German buildings safe.

Prayers for those missing.

Does anybody have a guess at what could cause such a large scale structural collapse?

Sounds like they were tunneling right under the thing to build a subway.

The building has a history of cracks in basement walls. They were determined to be insignificant but I’m sure they will be rethinking that now.

There is also work being done underground on the subway but right now they are saying that should not have been a problem.

Maybe they put too many archives on the upper floors.

Tunneling is always a danger, even when the engineers say there is no risk. It can be as simple as a change in groundwater levels causing part of the foundation to shift.

The tunneling would be my guess but you wouldn't think it would bring the whole building down. There would have to be significant damage to the foundation caused by the tunneling (vibrations etc). Unless the ground under the foundation actually buckled.

Does anyone here think that any politician will ever admit that their mass transit subways- trains- whatever are ever dangerous? To the above ground structures or whatever? NEVER......
