After all, a university campus is a place for the free and open exchange of ideas....
Only if they are socialistic, communistic or liberal ideas.

Whalberg needs to file a civil rights suit asking the professor and the college to immediately grant him every degree from an AA to a PhD as teachers tend to make some students nervous and uncomfortable, which in the Obamanation should not be allowed. /snide-off
Frankly he needs to ream the teacher and the dean over the lack of respect for his rights. Maybe the local NRA can have say fifty to sixty people show up to audit every class the teacher holds to monitor how the second amendment rights of students are treated.

After all, a university campus is a place for the free and open exchange of ideas. True! (But only as long as you agree with your liberal professors and the other sheep undergoing "groupthink".)

A Double Standard for Campus Free Speech
By Richard L. Cravatts
Mr. Cravatts, Ph.D., director of Boston Universitys Program in Publishing at the Center for Professional Education, is currently writing a book about higher education, Genocidal Liberalism: The Universitys Jihad Against Israel.
In what is yet more evidence that universities have become, as Abigail Thernstrom has described them, islands of repression in a sea of freedom, Torontos York University witnessed a near riot of some 100 pro-Palestinian Israel-haters, as police had to be called to usher Jewish students to safety after they had been barricaded inside the Hillel@York offices and were isolated and threatened by the physically and verbally aggressive demonstrators. ...

If a student felt the discussion of communism and socialism by the professors is threatening, could they call the campus police?

Campus police are state sanctioned, sworn officers in many states. That may be the case here, and they would normally have access to that information.
