he Obama White House has begun advancing an aggressive political strategy: convincing the country that the real power behind the Republican Party is not the GOP leaders in Congress or at the Republican National Committee, but rather provocative radio talk show king Rush Limbaugh.
President Barack Obama, top presidential aides and outside Democratic allies have been pushing the message in unison.
*snip*
With the White House working to make Limbaugh the face of the GOP, it is getting some outside assistance.
A tax-exempt group that supports progressive causes Americans United for Changeis helping finance a television ad that claims GOP leaders are beholden to the radio host. The ad closes with Limbaugh saying of Obama, "I want him to fail."
*snip*
Brad Woodhouse, president of Americans United for Change, said the group has discussed the ad campaign with the Democratic National Committee. Woodhouse is joining the DNC next week as its communications director.
Asked whether the White House was notified about the ad, Woodhouse said: "They certainly are awareI'm sure they're aware of what we're doing."

That is the last thing the GOP needs. I don’t understand people who want him to be the face of the GOP. The vast majority of voters in this Country cannot stand his program or him. To some of the base, he is a hero, to some, he is funny to listen to, and to others he is too overbearing to listen to his program. I haven’t listened to him regularly in years — always did consider him an entertainer not a political consultant or analyst. I have agreed with a lot and disagreed with a lot. My cup of tea is not to listen to three hours of anyone talk. I prefer to read my news.
Will never agree with some of his political savvy like Operation Chaos that had people switching parties and was open season to get in some fraudulent voters.
I don’t follow anyone blindly that is on the radio or TV. I have quit listening to most radio and TV commentary prefering to listen to CD’s in the car or sports talk radio. Not as irritating. Cannot stand hearing clips of ZERO on the radio programs. Don’t want to see ZERO on TV either.
I really don’t care if the so-called “independents” don’t like Rush.
They are the reason that that POS Obama is where he is tonight.
The “independents” would be be perfectly happy in a concentration camp if they had free health care, and three squares-a-day.
Obama and his minions see capitalism as the real threat and Rush is the most effective voice against the Obama Marxist agenda.
All of us should want to see Obama fail, regardless of what party one belongs to. To hope for Obama's policies to succeed is to hope for the failure of America's exceptionalism.
Try to take a deep breath and think logically about what you've just said. If you don't care what "so-called independents think", exactly where do you plan on coming up with the 8 million or so votes that the GOP to regain the Whitehouse? And, where do you think the votes are going to come from in Congressional races that are contestable?
If you don't think it's damaging to the GOP to be linked in such a visceral way to Limbaugh, why do you think Obama and his 501c3 allies are spending so much time doing it?
Obama is doing it because it divides the GOP, it diverts attention from his administration and it continues to paint the Republicans as dinosaurs of a forgotten era to over 70% of the American electorate.
Willful suspension of disbelief?
:)
This is not about political party anymore. That was last November. This is about philosophy. Why do you think they are attacking Limbaugh and not Republicans? Republicans are rolling over and accepting the Obama agenda.
Obama is attacking Limbaugh and not the GOP, because Limbaugh is even LESS popular than the Republican Party.
This isn't about Limbaugh's message or even about Limbaugh's audience. This is about Limbaugh's INCREDIBLY UNPOPULAR perception by the American People, nothing more. Limbaugh doesn't reach a huge pool of undecided voters. He spends every day preaching to a ravenous choir.

If any one has "taken the bait" here. It's self described conservatives that are drawn to defending Limbaugh like moths to a flame.
This isn't about ideology and it certainly isn't about the GOP's message, AT ALL. It's about political gamesmanship and Barack Obama is making the GOP look like political consultants to a high school homecoming queen election.
Zer0 cannot stomach criticism. That is his Achilles heel.
The Obama regime are in the big league where his “ghetto”
style of utopian socialism rhetoric fail. This served him
well on the south side of Chicago where the community leaders are chiefly race hustling Pastors and the infamous Louis Farrakhan.
Please President Zer0, keep it up!
Amen and Amen. And when I see this in national news I am disappointed in Rush.I am excited about Steele.
President Obama, Limbaugh didn’t put the stock market into a tailspin. That was you. Limbaugh didn’t get us laid off. That was your “hopey changey” Crisis Talk, making every company boss fearful of the near future. Limbaugh didn’t give away our money to people who didn’t work decades earning it, like we did. Um, that was you.
Steele must go. He should not engage this argument. There is an opportunity to counter Zer0 and regain the high ground and Steele is about to draw a truce. Appeasing Zer0 won’t add integrity to the soft-shell Republicans. We need to sweep out the RINO’s.
Thank You for your thoughtful reply.
If the “Independents” were swayed by the the total BS
of BHO,they are not the people we need to vote in a new
American Freedom Revolution.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again...
astroturf...

Aah yes. Good reminder ................ ;)
Not sure what you mean by astroturf, but...I do see a theme developing there...
There’s an old saying about walking and talking like a duck. ;o)
Bush tried that it didn't work for him.
Rush calls himself an entertainer. I think the old phrase about show business, “Any news is good news”, applies here. If things do get bad, Rush will come up with something.
In addition to Joe the Plumber, I think it’s actually a good thing that Zero is after Rush. It highlights the fact that in the post Bush era the White House goes after private citizens in a big way. My personal opinion is that after six weeks in office the Zero administration is in a total meltdown, and they are grasping at straws. Every single day we are confronted with more incompetency and dishonesty. What a total letdown this has to be for many Democraps after the big humongous campaign.
Actually what we need is a good foreign crisis or two to highlight Zero’s incompetence even more, especially in the foreign press. The “good” news is that there are plenty of them brewing out there.
If the administration were firmly in charge and confident of what they’re doing, we wouldn’t be seeing this kind of a circus. They would be focused on solving problems no matter what Rush would say. The whole Rush affair is a good thing even though it’s infuriating.
