Barack Obama's push: Make Rush Limbaugh appear to be the face of the GOP
Chicago Tribune ^ | 3-2-09 | Peter Nicholas

he Obama White House has begun advancing an aggressive political strategy: convincing the country that the real power behind the Republican Party is not the GOP leaders in Congress or at the Republican National Committee, but rather provocative radio talk show king Rush Limbaugh.

President Barack Obama, top presidential aides and outside Democratic allies have been pushing the message in unison.

*snip*

With the White House working to make Limbaugh the face of the GOP, it is getting some outside assistance.

A tax-exempt group that supports progressive causes — Americans United for Change—is helping finance a television ad that claims GOP leaders are beholden to the radio host. The ad closes with Limbaugh saying of Obama, "I want him to fail."

*snip*

Brad Woodhouse, president of Americans United for Change, said the group has discussed the ad campaign with the Democratic National Committee. Woodhouse is joining the DNC next week as its communications director.

Asked whether the White House was notified about the ad, Woodhouse said: "They certainly are aware—I'm sure they're aware of what we're doing."

chuckle when El Rushbo makes a bid deal out of never using a ‘prompter

Me too and you gotta know it grates on the HNIC. Nobama’s miscalculation was letting it get personal.

You want to know why communism, socialism, etc. fails. It’s because you can destroy “the yearning” in some men, but no one can ever destroy the “yearning to soar” in all men.

You've mentioned the crucial element. In a discussion about the Holocaust here recently, I offered that the reason so many victims of the Nazis gave up (apparently) was because they had their spirits broken.

Limbaugh is crucial because he is a focus of conservative discussion. Agree or disagree, he brings up issues that others think about, talk about, disseminate.

If he were gone, what would unify us at this point, when we have no president, no House, no Senate?

The liberals don't need such a core because they don't need issues to rally their base--in fact, the liberals don't have a single base but dozens of conflicting ones with one desire--more money from Washington. It doesn't matter if they disagree on a wide array of issues, they will vote for the guy who promises to give them more money.

Conservatives are all about issues because they want people to go to Washington and prevent government from intruding in their lives AND THE GOP DOESN'T DO THAT. The GOP cannot be trusted to protect our wallets, the unborn, gun rights, etc. UNLESS we bear down on them. Left to their own devices they revert to Country Club position, wanting to get along.

Left to THEIR own devices, democrats spend on social programs. They can be left alone, with no need of Olberman or Air America.

The Republicans need constant reminding that they'd better do right by borders, abortion, etc.

Thus, we need Limbaugh, like it or not. And we have to start fighting a guerilla war with guerilla tactics, not this suit-and-tie/country club crap ala Hatch and his endorsement of representation for DC because Utah gets more seats.

What an amazing age we live in. The President of the United States of America attacking a PRIVATE CITIZEN because he disagrees with what the The President of the United States of America is doing with his economic policies.

And now, the same President of the United States of America, is releasing secret memos his predecessor wrote while protecting the country from terrorists as well as compromising our Missile Defense Shield to work a backroom deal with the Kremlin to TRY to rein in Iran.

Yep, the Ineligible Illegal Alien Anchor Baby President of the United States of America is doing a bang up job.

Today's article by the Investors Business Daily makes Rush's point well when he said:

"I'm going further and telling you today it's not that I want Obama to fail; that's not it anymore. The president is presiding over economic failure. The president is watching it, doing nothing about it. He's watching unemployment grow; he's watching the stock market plummet; he is watching people sign up for unemployment. The president of the United States is doing nothing to stop the downward spiral of this economy. He has no economic recovery plan. The truth is, the president of the United States and Rahm Emanuel, who, remember, said, “Crisis is too great a thing to waste.” What does that mean? They want you suffering, they want you miserable, they want it worse, they want you rejecting conservatism. They want you rejecting capitalism. They want you turning to them in fear and desperation and angst for an immediate fix to the problem. They want you thinking you have no ability to fix your own problems. They think you have and they want you to have no ability to take care of yourself. So as the stock market now approaches minus 2,800 since Obama was elected, the statement today is to speed up the economic recovery, we're going to focus on health care. Ask yourself how that is going to get you your next job?"

I think the Republicanz can do worse than pick a professional communicator and self made millionaire as their mascot/standard bearer.

Hannity as VP?

Coulter as Attorney General?

"But this really confirms it’s their strategy, the fools. Don’t mess with Rush.

I don't quite understand how this is a foolish strategy by Obama. Limbaugh's national approval rating is worse than Bush - 21% (Gallup's Feb. 5th poll has Limbaugh either unknown or disliked by 71% of independents.) While Rush is immensely popular with GOP base, he's incredibly toxic to the rest of the country.

So long as Obama is successful in tying Limbaush to the GOP, and so long as the MSM keeps hanging this around the neck of Republican politician's, Obama laughs all the way to the bank - and by the bank, I mean the wallets of the American Taxpayer. And, oh by the way, Limbaugh puts a few extra bucks in his wallet as well.

This strategy of Obama doesn't reflect foolishness. Rather, it reflects a cunning strategy on behalf of Obama that doesn't seem to be losing any effectiveness in the foreseeable future.

Bingo.

It's not the first time they have tried this strategy.
Back in '95 they tried to blame the Oklahoma City Bombing on conservative talk radio and Rush Limbaugh.

You can bet Clintonites are involved.

The push is to IMPUNE YOU AND I.

The push is to dampen opposition to his bid to fell the USA.

The push WILL FAIL!

If he pushes Rush we, ALL OF US, need to push back HARD!

Rush is a PRIVATE CITIZEN speaking his mind into a microphone—HE IS NOT AN ELECTED OFFICIAL!

We ‘gather’ to listen to him regularly.

Don’t let them stifle our NATURAL RIGHT to FREE SPEECH.

Fight them, FReepers!

Fight them, Republicans!

Fight them, Conservatives!

Fight them, Libertarians!

Fight them, AMERICANS!

To arms, if need be.

We must act to preserve the fundamental rights that our laws and representatives have protected UNTIL NOW!

Until these dogs knawed their way to power.

0bama and his hounds are working feverishly to create one neck for one leash! And your neck is included—EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU READING THIS!

Resist! Defy! Refuse! Raise your voice! Get in THEIR faces!

The time for “nice-guy” Republicanism IS O.V.E.R.!!!!

If 0bama succeeds WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN TO THE FREEDOM AND LIVES WE KNEW BEFORE HIS FATAL ASCENDANCY!

I only condone violence when used in defense against violence, OR, OR against any entity that would act to deny you fundamental, NATURAL rights.

There is NO DIFFERENCE, in principle, in defending yourself against your would-be murderer, a rapist or a terrorist and defending yourself against a government that would act to make a slave of you, or make a criminial of you for defending your fundamental rights—your birthright—Life, Libery and the Pursuit of Happiness. You would be righteous as a human being—a hero to our race, not a criminal.

THERE IS NO MORE VIOLENT ACT THAN ROBBING A HUMAN OF THE RIGHT TO LIVE FOR HIS OR HER OWN SAKE, TO LIVE FREE FROM THE COERCION AND ENSLAVEMENT BY THOSE WHO, AT THE END OF GUN, PROCLAIM THEMSELVES THE OWNERS OF YOUR LABOR AND THUS, YOUR VERY LIFE!

For the sake of humanity they must be brought down and marginalized.

MILLIONS of humans have suffered and died at the hand of those who claimed to be “acting on their behalf”—they will do what’s best for you EVEN IF IT KILLS YOU!!!

No man is fit to rule another—NO MAN!!! The continued evolution of our species will remove the idea that humans cannot rule themselves, along with the desire to conquer and control—to “save” the masses from themselves.

Only laws defending individual rights can “save us from ourselves” in our current state.

This is no time for making light and certainly no time for denying the reality of our predicament—THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF A SLOW-MOTION DETONATION OF A HYDROGEN BOMB ON AMERICAN SOIL.

They seek TO GUT OUT SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT and raise up a collectivist, cannibalistic NIGHTMARE from it’s sad ruins.

Fight, or lose it all.

Rise up and fight, or LOSE IT ALL!

With idiots like Steele, we might as well just quit.

That is what makes a horse race.

I guess we could pick Obama as our standard bearer. Perhaps according to you that wouldn’t be worse than Rush?

How about Bin Laden. Would that be worse than Rush?

We could perhaps do better. ( I like Palin, and have for a while.)

Limbaugh expresses the Obama viewpoint as I see it.

I think the GOP has to be a lot more nimble, because we’re seeing something they don’t seem to, which is that Obama and his pal Rahm are engaging in something truly awesome—they are doing what all liberals really want, which is tearing the whole thing down, and starting from scratch.

They see the US as this massive machine that cannot be reformed. They must destroy the nation in order to save it.

Like it or not, the media are a part of the liberal establishment, which is why we must defend Limbaugh because he is part of the conservative establishment—NOT the Republican one, mind you.

We will need to hang on tight, because Obama’s plans are becoming pretty obvious; he has stuck his hands in the works and is ripping out the insides as fast as possible before he can be stopped, because then he will be able to say “It’s too late now, it’s all broke, so we HAVE to start from scratch.”

Look for a constitutional convention in your future. Which is why Rahm Emmanuel will be playing with the census numbers. You don’t think he will believe he is saving billions of lives with his little lies about population distribution and what that means for representation in Washington?

Yes, exactly, because I don't think Rush would be a good choice, I must obviously support Bin Laden and Obama. (rolls eyes)

Why not stop the foolishness and join in with something substantial?

"What's wrong with speaking out against a president who's trying to silence discussion and whose party is even now trying to figure out how to stamp out free expression?"

Obama is getting EXACTLY what Obama wanted. He wants Republicans either defending or embracing Rush Limbaugh. My advise to Republicans is to IGNORE these questions about Limbaugh and focus on the task at hand.

Respectfully, this crap about the fairness doctrine and Obama failing and whatever else are just Red Herring's planted by Obama - the guy is a political genius.

As for Limbaugh making a million or a billion, I couldn't care less - more power to him.

And, as for listening to a different station as you, I would as what station are you listening too. Because, every network, broadcast or otherwise is consumed with the "What's the GOP going to do about Rush Limbaugh" crap. So, news cycle after news cycle is eaten away by this phony story while Reid, Pelosi and Obama have their way with America's domestic and foreign policy.

Obama's not trying to silence dissent, and he's especially not trying to silence Limbaugh. Limbaugh is the best thing Obama's got going for him. What he's trying to do is get the GOP to chase their own tail, to war with their own base and to worry about survival rather than acting as a coherent, organized opposition party. Barry sets the bait, Republicans and conservatives bite it like a trout on a newly tied fly and the MSM sets the hook. It's amateur hour at the GOP. We're getting schooled by a guy who's only won two freakin elections.
