he Obama White House has begun advancing an aggressive political strategy: convincing the country that the real power behind the Republican Party is not the GOP leaders in Congress or at the Republican National Committee, but rather provocative radio talk show king Rush Limbaugh.
President Barack Obama, top presidential aides and outside Democratic allies have been pushing the message in unison.

With the White House working to make Limbaugh the face of the GOP, it is getting some outside assistance.
A tax-exempt group that supports progressive causes — Americans United for Change—is helping finance a television ad that claims GOP leaders are beholden to the radio host. The ad closes with Limbaugh saying of Obama, "I want him to fail."

Brad Woodhouse, president of Americans United for Change, said the group has discussed the ad campaign with the Democratic National Committee. Woodhouse is joining the DNC next week as its communications director.
Asked whether the White House was notified about the ad, Woodhouse said: "They certainly are aware—I'm sure they're aware of what we're doing."

That was funny, especially the part about us not wanting any outreach to voters. That was a good one, if one likes fairy tales.
Your quotes are meaningless because you’re coming off a truly bizarre position—that supporting Limbaugh’s positions somehow spells doom for the party.
Why do you think a principled conservative message won't work?
Keep in mind that the party-building exercise among college-age youth that you regret wasn't made, was neglected by the RNC and the guys you agree with -- the Large and in Charge Wing of the GOP, as opposed to us conservatives. So why don't you unload on Karl Rove and Dubya and Ken Mehlman for that little oversight?
Actually, we're flexible and can stretch and multitask.
We can challenge RiNO's and fight the MSM 'Rats at the same time, nye problema.
We have to figure out who we are and where we're coming from before we ask people to vote for our program. We have to HAVE a program -- not just winning personalities like Bob Dole and John McCain.
The LAST thing that Barack wants to do is point out that the head of the GOP is a black man. So instead he demonizes Rush Limbaugh.
His underings have already gone to making racist attacks on Bobby Jindal (offshored response, sounds like a gas station clerk, slumdog, etc.).

The RNC is worried about losing the middle. McCain was their middle candidate and did middling.
The WH & DNC are playing for keeps. They are working to sever the bond between RINOs and the rest of the party. Without a well formulated and thought out message they’ll win.
Census, representation for DC, ACORN funding, etc. they are already working on 2010. The media lies for Obama and will keep doing it.
Unless we spread the word in a way others can understand we’re just preaching to the choir.
Our country is getting royally Obama’d. The fix will come when the mushy middle moves right. How do you reach that middle?
Let the pain caused by Obama’s policies be a wake up call, but if the media blame Bush, the free market, greed, etc. it just plays into Obama’s hands. There are too many FReepers playing that game already. Where are our basic values?
This is maximum information warfare. There is a lot of empty space, the fear Obama has created works both ways. Who is using it? What is our response to their psyops? Tea parties?
We need a Petraeus to focus all our energy on victory and ignore the noise, stay on signal and target and win. Where is a Gingrich when you need him?
Thus far no one has stepped up- Steele is a wet noodle, Sanford seems distracted, DeMint is a Senator (you need an executive), Palin’s been marginalized and needs to rehab her rep.
Don't put words in my mouth. I'm saying no such things about conservatism or Limgaugh position's on the subject - I'm saying that Limbaugh is TOXIC to the voting block that conservatives and especially the GOP need to win back - you know, the 7-8 million more people that voted for Obama.

The reality is that the PRESIDENT is bitching about a TALK SHOW HOST. In what reality does that hurt the host's party, as opposed to making the president seem scared of the host and his message?
Rush should start always identifying Obama as “the face of the Democratic party.” Within a short time, perhaps even immediately, a lot of Dem politicians will be trying to duck and cover away from that association.

I kind of think that the stock market watched the McCain campaign with its 84million dollars of governement money, and saw the Obama campaign with its 600 million dollars, and made the conclusion early. The market often anticipates.

First of all, I don't have any favorites in GOP leadership positions. Second, if you'd poll the average American and ask if Karl Rove or W are conservatives, THE OVERWHELMING majority would give an unequivocal YES. It doesn't matter if they are or they aren't. The prevailing and overwhelming opinion by average Americans is that they are. That's not going to change. In politics perception IS the politcal reality.

My question back to you is, where in any of my posts do you find those words coming from me? A principled conservative message can work. But, principled conservative message with Rush Limbaugh as the ball carrier won't. Why? Because Rush Limbaugh is LESS POPULAR THAT JERMIAH WRIGHT. Do you think Jeremiah Wright will be winning any hearts and minds? I'll go ahead and feel free to put the words in your mouth of "Probably Not".
Lastly, there were herculean efforts from the GOP to reach out to college voters this year and in 2004. I know, I worked plenty of campus campaign booths and talked to probably thousands of college kids in the process. Did you? Let me tell you, they weren't biting. Why weren't they biting because young people view conservatives as fat white guys who are culturally, racially, gender and environmentally insensitive. Now, is that true? No, but that the perception; and we're back to the perception is reality axiom.
As long as Rush Limbaugh is the face of the GOP, that perception will never change NO MATTER HOW BRUTALLY INACCURATE IT IS. And Barack Obama laughs.
It is not about being flexible and multitasking... it is about wasting resources and in the process doing the left’s binding for them... and if we don’t know who we are or where we are going by now then we are FUBAR. Second, we don’t need a “program to sell” what we need is to run on EXACTLY what Rush said in his speech to CPAC, what has made this country so great in such a small amount of time ... the FREEDOM of the individual... not the hand of government.

If you can't grasp the VERY SIMPLE notion that the overwhelming majority of American's think that Rush Limbaugh is vile, no one can help you.

I laugh at liberals when they say things like..."we don't need a cowboy in the White House". This implies that a cowboy is a bad thing.
I could think of nothing worse than to have a limp wristed, purse swinger in the White House. Cowboys are greatly needed nowadays.
