A group of 26 Catholic leaders, scholars and theologians Mar. 1 publicly expressed support for the nomination of Governor Sebelius as the next HHS secretary .
They issued a statement calling attention to Sebelius successful efforts at reducing abortion in Kansas as well as the Catholic faiths long standing support for universal health care.
Sebelius Feb. 28th accepted President Obama's request to become his Health and Human Services secretary.
As faithful Catholics we proudly offer our support to Governor Kathleen Sebelius, who has been nominated to head the Department of Health and Human Services, statement read.
Governor Sebelius is a woman of deep faith with a proud family history of public service. We believe Governor Sebelius record of building the common good, reforming immigration laws, improving schools, innovating health care solutions, and significantly reducing the abortion rate in Kansas, makes her an excellent candidate for HHS Secretary.
Governor Sebelius has demonstrated civility and a new kind of politics that both earned her the respect and collaboration of Republican allies and delivered results for the citizens of Kansas. In addition to offering our support, we also reject the tactics of those who would use Gov. Sebelius faith to attack her. As Catholics, we find such partisan use of our religion regrettable and divisive.
The statement was organized by Catholics United, a Washington-based non-profit that promotes the churchs social teachings and the mission of justice and peace.
What are the facts? the statements signers asked. Kathleen Sebelius has made clear that she agrees with church teaching that abortion is wrong and has lived and acted according to that belief. As governor she has worked to reduce the number of abortions by supporting expanded prenatal care and adoption incentives, expanding health services for Kansas families, and providing a variety of support services for families."
The statement went on to say that among other actions, Governor Sebelius:
Affordable and accessible health care is an essential safeguard of human life and a fundamental human right. With an estimated 47 million Americans lacking health care coverage, it is also an urgent national priority. Reform of the nation's health care system needs to be rooted in values that respect human dignity, protect human life, and meet the needs of the poor and uninsured, especially born and unborn children, pregnant women, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations.

It kind of looks like it.
That is one of the rare "strong" statements made by a Bishop. Of course, if she shows up at just about any Mass, she will receive anyway. No one will stop her. In most cases, people will be giddy to offer Communion to such a celebrity.
Just watch in a few months when Kennedy croaks. Full Catholic funeral with all kinds of famous abortion Catholics receiving.
Don't hold your breath.
>>The Catholic Church supported and still supports ACORN which helped elect Obama.<<
You have come onto many Catholic threads stating this.
I have asked you for a reference many times.
The Catholic Church DOES NOT at this moment support ACORN.
As faithful Catholics we...”
Bwhahahahahaaha! Thats a good one!
These are prominent Catholics? pfft. I recognize one name, and for a negative reason.
Right is wrong, evil is good.
Sounds like I read that somewhere about the last days.
What did you expect? Most Catholics vote Democrat, abortion stance or no. I know that most Lutherans do too.
You didn’t think they’d latch on to something positive about Sebelius and not issue some sort of press release, did you?
She’s not even anti-abortion. She gets credit here for reducing it, not being against it.
That’s the magic of liberalism: it doesn’t matter that our factions work at absolute cross purposes - as long as we get enough of what we want to be in control of our factions, we are on board.
What do unions and environmentalists have in common? That’s right, they’re Democrats, and that’s where it stops. Unions want to pave it all over, because it makes the members happy. Environmentalists want to hold up the permits.
The local hospital in Seattle - Providence (Sisters of Providence) - founded there way back when and had its headquarters there. Nurses and hospital workers struck against the Order. Who’d the Bishop back? That’s right, the union. Left their own Order twisting in the wind.
What happened? Providence closed down their Seattle hospital and made Everett, WA their headquarters. They are doing well there (#1 heart hospital in the state).
But, but, what about the poor nurses and hospital workers? Jobs went bye bye to Snohomish County.
Liberalism is a COALITION form of government. It’s two wolves and a sheep deciding dinner. It’s also why they want the electoral college shut down - permanent democratic rule. (small d intended).
In Rome, an epithet on the order of the F word was ‘democrat’. If you really lost your cool in the Senate, you’d hurl that epithet at an opponent.
The last thing liberals want is a republic. Tyranny of the majority, especially an ignorant majority, is what they are about.
>>Do you post this on every thread that mentions Catholics?<<
Yes! And in this one left out the falsehood of La Raza.
I have no clue why that poster insists on spreading the lies.
as my teenage kids would say
“O.M.G.”
I’m not sure exactly what you mean. Do you mean that the Catholic hospitals will refuse to do abortions and let the chips fall where they may? I hope that is the case and that they fight this Socialist heretic with all they have.
Question: How many frickin evangelicals for for obama, jacka**
Answer: A lot!
hmmmm.....never heard of any of them, except Kmeic. Yeah, that carries a lot of weight with me.
I post also about 78% of American Jews voting for Hussein. As long as the church allows evil people like lefty bishops to harm the church i will speak out. Too many Catholics and other Chrsitians fail to speak up against lefties in the Church.
Priests and Bishops pushing Obama’s abortion or Open Borders agenda are wrong.
The church's social teachings are predicated upon the church's DIVINE teachings. If these CINOs bypass doctrine to get to feel-goodism, then they are apostates.
Will ANYONE from the Catholic church attack these “Catholics” for promoting the killing of babies?
Any real leaders in that church?
Any one of these folks get thrown out of the church or anything other that taking communion?
Well this will be interesting. It won’t halt her nomination though. Or her run for the Senate in 2010.
They issued a statement calling attention to Sebelius successful efforts at reducing abortion in Kansas as well as the Catholic faiths long standing support for universal health care.
A group of 26 Catholic heretics publicly expressed support for the nomination of a fellow heretic Governor Sebelius as the next HHS secretary. They are ALL willing to look the other way when it comes to murdering children so that they can continue to get their bennies from the government, just as millions of Catholics across the United States did when they voted for Obama.
Apparently they all agree that they have no backbone; they can talk the talk but cannot walk the walk. They would rather spend their time in the counting house counting their money, and give lip service to the sanctity of life. That is my opinion.
If they die unrepentant, (which includes a firm purpose of amending their lives) that is indeed what they will face for all eternity.
