True story: Way back in those ancient days known as the 1990s, I was a columnist for The Baltimore Sun. I had just done a piece about Dennis Rodman, the incomparable and, in some ways, indescribable forward for the Chicago Bulls.
As indescribable as some of Rodmans on and off-court antics were, I decided to take a shot at describing them. Monkey shines is the term I came up with.
Id no sooner sent the column to a line editor than a black female editor pulled me aside. Calmly and nicely, she expressed her doubts about whether I should use the term monkey shines to describe the actions of Rodman, a black man.
You may or may not have noticed this, I explained to the editor, but Im also black. And the term monkey shines is race neutral. I had black teachers tell me a dozen times if they told me once Im not going to put up with your monkey shines today, Gregory Kane. If we cant use the term monkey shines to describe what Rodman does, then what good is it?
As I said, she was an editor; I was just a lowly columnist. So you know who won that battle. The reference to Rodmans monkey shines never saw the light of day. Its too bad that same editor wasnt working at The New York Post in the last two weeks.

....my guess is that Mr Kane also missed the vile cartoons that hit the MSM about Condi too.
Colored People?
Shouldn’t it be the NAAAA (National Association for the Advancement of African Americans)
And then they turned around and called me a racist.
Can you imagine the utter contempt black Americans will have toward Obambi if their lot in life does not improve over the next four years (my prediction is their lives will stay about the same that they are now or get even progressively worse)? You were warned.
They won’t hate him.
Just whitey “obstructionists”.
LOL!
I always did wonder about that one myself...
It is more likely that they’ll blame his failures on racist white people and continue their adoration of the New Messiah unabated.
Then is it any wonder why they do not succeed in life: they live in a fanrasy world, Kool Aid drinkers supreme!
You must not know many black Americans. They will never have contempt for him even if life becomes real hell. There is no logic when it comes to BO. They are operating on a purely emotional basis.
Of course, quite a few Black Americans are looking at what 0bama’s doing as President and realizing that they’ve been deceived.
Rahm’s comments about cowards could have also meant blacks as well as whites. Racists come in all colors.
I couldn't disagree more. To me, this is just another attempt to stir the pot of conflict when there's nothing else to bitch about.
