As expected, the Recording Industry Association of America, the lobbying group of the four largest music labels, has laid off between 20 and 25 workers, or about 20 percent of the RIAA's workforce, according to music industry sources.
In addition to the layoffs, the RIAA eliminated some positions through attrition, the sources said. In all, 31 of the company's 104 employees, or just under 30 percent, were either laid off or quit recently and will not be replaced. The RIAA leadership remains unchanged. My sources say CEO Mitch Bainwol and President Cary Sherman have contracts extending through the end of 2010....

That’s a great start!
This is the same organization that wants to sell music CDs for $15-20 while giving the artists a pittance and having music companies pocket the rest for a CD that probably costs less than a dollar to manufacture and package. I will not be sorry to see them go.
I just bought some music directly from the artists’ site for $1.20 per song: not cheap, but far less than a music CD, and the RIAA parasites did not get a nickel.

Not to rain on everyone’s parade, but now that they have their lackeys in the DOJ they don’t need as many people working in the RIAA. I like to view it for what it is, as a reorganization.
What’s wrong? Wasn’t suing Grandma’s and 10 year olds profitable enough?
You mean, roughly 150 people were terrorizing millions?
I guess the RIAA shakedown business is not going so well...
