By the time Partly Cloudy skies appear about 3PM Monday, there will be about 4-8″ of snow on the ground in DC.
Plus, in New York City, where Jim Hansen would likely depart from, they also have a Winter Storm Warning in effect to 6PM Monday with forecast of:

If Hansen hasnt left NYC already, Id say it is doubtful hell even make the protest given it is a Monday, and Mondays are usually pretty bad commutes even without bad weather. Looks like it is going to be a

I interrupt the snowstorm updates to bring you this pressing issue. Monday, March 2nd 2009 is the date for a scheduled protest by Capitol Climate Action (CCA).
Heavy snow expected at the Nations Capitol on Monday
Their [2] website labels it:
Mass civil disobedience at the coal fired power plant in Washington, DC
CCA claims this will be the largest mass civil disobedience for the climate in US history. There is actually a request to wear dress clothes. That seems odd. Is this a target to get young Americans in a vogue protest?
My forecast from this morning can be found [11] here (I will have a new update by this evening). If you go just by the NWS forecast, then snow will range between 5-10 inches with wind gusts over 30 mph. The snowstorm forecast is ironic not only because it falls on the date of this protest, but also because it is a late season event. The normal high for the date in Washington, DC is 51F. What would be worse: Keep the protest on in the snowstorm, or cancel it because of the snowstorm?
The infamous Dr. James Hansen should be there leading the charge. My [12] post last week about 2008 being the coldest year this decade included a reference to Hansen. I wrote, This is the same man who turned off the air conditioning in the Capitol while speaking about Global Warming on a hot day in 1988. I also mentioned his [13] exposure of bad data for Russia just this past October. He used September data (a statistically warmer month) in place of cooler October data. This skewed the temperatures upward.
I dont knock him for his extreme beliefs, but I do disagree with the questionable tactics he uses to get his message across. According to [14] Fox News , he is in hot water since he works for NASA, yet is helping to organize a protest.
It seems like the Climate Crew has had some trouble getting their messages across. Its almost as if mixed signals are coordinated by nature itself. Marc Marano, Communications Director for the GOP on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee ([15] EPW) sent out a list of events that seem to follow the Gore Effect. This was labeled by [16] Politico.com as:
The so-called Gore Effect happens when a global warming-related event, or appearance by the former vice president and climate change crusader, Al Gore, is marked by exceedingly cold weather or unseasonably winter weather.
Check out this list courtesy of Marc Marano:

Glad I wasn’t wearing the ole seersucker today. :-)
Time for the earmuffs, better yet I’m staying home with coffee in hand.
How much do you have so far? I heard St. Mary’s county has about 9” this morning, but Towson only a couple.
Certainly I did, as did a lot of other people post related articles. I posted it again here as an important reminder of where the Obama team is coming from on the bogus "climate change" issue, and where they are ultimately going with their "Change America" agenda.
Delaware is doing its small part to keep Hansen from his enviroweenie loonfest by clogging up I95 with about 6-8 inches of snow.

The Planet Gore Crystal Ball Remains Operational [Greg Pollowitz]
Or, at least, the Gore Effect remains in operation.
That’s right, folks: the Left’s day of civil disobedience in D.C. to protest global warming looks to be snowed out just as I predicted back in December.

Save the Date [Greg Pollowitz]
Anyone want to bet on a snowstorm hitting D.C. on March 2, 2009?
Make Climate Justice History - Mass civil disobedience March 2nd, 2009 in DC
Dear Friends and Allies-
Were in the process of organizing a mass non-violent civil disobedience to coincide with Power Shift 2009. In late February 2009, the Energy Action Coalition will host over 10,000 climate activists focusing generally on making climate change, clean energy, and green jobs a priority for the new administration. Greenpeace, Rainforest Action Network, the Ruckus Society, Chesapeake Climate Action Network and a host of others are planning a mass non-violent civil disobedience, with a goal of organizing over 1,000 people, to cross the line and sit-in at the Capital Coal Plant.
The Capital Coal Plant is a mixed-burning facility that provides heat/steam/refrigeration to the entire Capitol Complex, including Congress. As part of the Greening The Capitol initiative, the House of Representatives has opted to replace their share of usage of the plant with natural gas and implement broad efficiency measures, the Senate has refused to do so, and continues to use coal. But our goal is not just to clean up this plant alone - its to demand a complete transformation in our national energy policies and priorities.
The action will follow a rally for the Powershift Lobby Day on Capitol Hill, and will begin around 1:00pm. To be clear - this action is NOT an official part of Powershift or EAC, but is organized by allies, and is working closely with Powershift/EAC to ensure complimentary outcomes and smooth logistics.
While still being developed - the likely scenario for this activity would be in the direction of peaceful sit-in at the power plant. We aim to create an action framework that is accessible to all - from students, to elderly, to parents, to notable public figures and beyond. We envision a structured event that includes agreed-upon action guidelines, extensive training on non-violence, and a respectful tone that participants would be asked to abide by. We will have a legal team organized to support participants and will have prior discussion with authorities as to our non-violent intentions.

Wow, its not often that you see such prophetic accuracy anywhere. Pollowitz is better at predicting the weather than the NOAA.
The Lord has such a great sense of humor....but then, he invented it in the first place so we shouldn’t be surprised.
We only have about 4-5” at the Navy Yard, but it’s blowing hard to near whiteout. The out-of-town protestors are out of luck - nearly every traffic sign is unreadable from being coated with snow.
Thanks for the ping, and the opportunity for a Schadenfreude smile!
