I watched it twice so far. Great flick, even knowing it came from HBO. That was a good movie!

This was a surprisingly wonderful movie.
It was simple story, so don’t expect a lot of action, but the lessons in duty, honor and the finality of death run deep.

Consider this the ‘token conservative’ movie from HBO. Also seen it on a repeat showing and Bacon delivers it. The scene where there were cars following the casket on the highway...very emotional.

Yes that scene too, and when Bacon spoke to Chance’s parents was as well.

This is the first I’ve heard of this movie, which is no surprise since you say it is positive.
Thank you for posting.

My GF was already close to tears on that scene as well. The article was correct, it did not preach about whether we were in Iraq for any political reasons. He just wanted to take him home.

The only reason they’ll do this right now is because the Messiah is president. Were a Republican at the helm, a positive Iraq story would never be made. Now, the messiah will take the glory if Iraq remains a success or blame Gates if things go south. And Hollywood will say that Obama won the war.

I can’t stand HBO. And yet they did Band of Brothers.
I’m conflicted.

First I have heard of this. Sounds like a good one.

It is currently running on HBO. Not sure how else to access it at the moment, but I’m certain it will be on DVD soon, if not now.

I visited my local Base Exchange yesterday and spoke with the man who was stocking the DVD shelves. Noticing “W” was on the shelf, I asked why “American Carol” never hit AAFES. He cheerfully replied that they only get what the HQ sends them. I commented that they carried every Michael Moore movie. Again, he said the HQ decides what they carry, probably based on sales and popularity. I then asked why AAFES carried “Broke Back Mountain,” which tanked miserably at the box office. By now he appeared to be in a cold sweat, repeating that it wasn't his call. I explained that I wasn't annoyed with him, just sick of the dweebs with the agenda at his HQ. He laughed at that and agreed with my assessment.

I’m delighted this movie is being well-received. My son, US Army Warrant Officer, was involved in this and he also is married to Chance’s sister.

They may have aired it in 2009, but the movie was filmed last year.

This was made while a Republican was at the helm.

Guess I’ll have to subscribe to HBO long enough to see it. Have not watched any other war pics—totally trash our brave men and women.
