March will likely "come in like a lion," as the city could receive up to a foot of snow by tomorrow morning.
The city received a dusting of snow this morning, but a northeaster is predicted to bring heavy snows between 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Between seven to nine inches of snow are expected by 7 a.m. Monday and a total accumulation of about a foot will occur by noon.
Travel will be dangerous throughout the city and the surrounding area from late tonight to 7 a.m. Monday.
Airports will likely be closed at points between tonight and Monday morning, and flight delays will stretch into Tuesday.
City buses will have major delays, as trains and above-ground subways could have signal problems that lead to delays.
Street snow removal will continue through Tuesday to facilitate commutes.
This storm is expected to be the biggest snowfall since the blizzard of February 2006, which brought 26 inches.
Tuesday's above-freezing temperatures are expected to melt the snow.

Unless the sun wakes up soon, we are all going to be looking for fur coats.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer section of our state.
From Western New York.
As I type, nimrods across New England rush to the grocery stores to buy every loaf of bread, gallon of milk, packages of batteries, Twinkies and Ho-Hos they can fit in their shopping carts. After all, some people were stuck in their homes for almost a week back in 1978.
Now THAT’S economic stimulus!
Not real familiar with yankees are you?
My husband has been working in Boston for several weeks and started driving home Saturday morning - just ahead of this storm. He got snowed on in Alabama...and should be pulling into our driveway any minute! Thank the Lord he got out of New England ahead of this storm...
Couldn’t agree more.
From Williamsville.
In Bflo, NY, it is clear and the lawn is without snow. It is 23F.
There's real Yankees, and there's citified people who live in New England. The former are used to weather, the latter rush to stores everytime the local weather station tries to build up a coming storm.
I am in Snyder.
