When Rush spoke of some on the Right declaring that the "era of Reagan was over" we can be assured of at least one person whom we can not ascribe to this erroneous notion. A person who 'thinks about Reagan every day', a person who holds Reagan and his idealism in the highest regard, a person still motivated by Reagan to propagate the tenets of conservatism. Of course I refer to Governor Sarah Palin.
Palin, as we are all aware, has been discounted by some as not electable. The reason most given is her 'performance when interviewed by Katie Couric'. I imagine that these begrudgers, after Reagan's first debate with Mondale, would have hung their heads down and sadly uttered, 'he can't win, we nominated the wrong man'.
I also wonder if these same people, without the benefit of being inundated with the negative haranguing of the media, might have come away after the 'Couric interview' with the opinion, 'much ado about nothing'. In subsequent interviews and speeches Palin more than proved the 'vaunted Couric interview' was an anomaly. Thomas Sowell recently issued an article negating any and all doubt of Sarah Palin's assumed intelligence gap. Though Mr. Sowell certainly hasn't been the first to do so, and I'm sure won't be the last.
Rush never offered any names of who he thought should lead the G.O.P. as it brushes itself off and gets back up on its feet. From comments he has made on his show he has often cited two people he greatly admires, though never actually hinting at a preference of either. This pair would be both be governors, Louisiana's Bobby Jindal, and the grand lady from Alaska, Sarah Palin.

MEMORABLE
"President Obama is so busy trying to foment and create anger in a created atmosphere of crisis, he is so busy fueling the emotions of class envy that he's forgotten it's not his money that he's spending. [Applause]
In fact, the money he's spending is not ours. He's spending wealth that has yet to be created. And that is not sustainable. It will not work. This has been tried around the world. And every time it's been tried, it's a failed disaster."

It reads as an awesome heart to heart with conservatives and really...all of AmericaI believe this was a potentially important speech, as Rush said, to the nation-- if there are any conservatives out there who have the vision and wherewithal to utilize it as a springboard for a campaign of motivation, education, and determination. He is right that too many of the people have no idea what the reality is, whether about conservatism or Obamanoid socialism.

I'm just wondering if you actually saw it, or read the transcript. Consider that I pulled the quote from the transcript and rethink the question.

Consider that I pulled the quote from the transcript and rethink the question. OK.
I asked because I somehow managed to see and listen to it AND read the transcript.
But then, I'm gifted. LOL

He wasn't bragging, he was joking. How can you have a "super exclusive private" room with 55 people allowed in?

I'm glad those designing airplanes, bridges and skyscrapers dont feel that way.And imagine having your open heart surgery done by a bunch of 18-year-olds, in a hospital run by them. Cool! Look at that! It's, like, a real heart! Now what do we do?

Newt said the “Era of Reagan” is over and the GOP better get used to it.
Newt, another beltway suckerfish who sez he is conservative.

I think what the original poster meant was that what used to be expected of students in order to get the high school diploma now requires the first year or two of college remedial studies.Community service projects and writing multimedia presentations have replaced much of the instruction of basic knowledge.I meet high school grads who can't do simple ratio and percentage calculations or make change without a computer.
I have observed engineers calling in consultants for an answer that I could have provided.Seriously.Because many of these younger college grads don't even KNOW the basics of their field;they at least know enough to ask someone more experienced.
You know what they call the person who graduates at the bottom of his medical class?
Doctor!
