After steep January cuts, more than 1 in 10 Californians is out of work. It's even worse in L.A. County.
Unemployment in California shot up to its highest level in nearly 26 years in January, leaving more than 1 in 10 workers without a job.
Figures released Friday show that 79,300 jobs were lost in the state last month, bringing the total number of unemployed to 1,863,000, or 10.1% of the workforce. That's the highest since the rate touched 10.4% in 1983.
Conditions are even worse in Los Angeles County, which saw its unemployment rate jump to 10.5% in January from 9.2% the month before.

Get rid of all the illegals from Mexico that are holding jobs and let American citizens have them and you’d probably see the unemployment rate of Americans drop down to 1.5% or so!
The LA Times has entered a death spiral, and will soon follow the San FRancisco Chronicle into oblivion. What both liberal “icons” ignored was the fact that most people who vote Democrat are generally ignorant and poorly educated and have no need for a newspaper; and the elitists who do are too few to keep things going. Had they been newspapers that reported the news and kept their editorializing off the front page, and offered an op-ed section with diverse viewpoints, they likely would survive. But now it is too late. TS

Things will get better when you stay home and make your own sandwich. And, that time is probably coming soon.
Stock up on tuna now.
... Well, here’s the most amazing part of the story: It is the mismanaged private sector that is suffering the worst part of the job losses. In contrast, the well-managed public sector is fairing much better ....

Or, anybody can run a Zimbabwe farm. It's only a matter of seizing the farm.
By the way, thanks for the trip down memory lane. Good post.
Great excerpts!
Funny how the democrats never mention how that worked out.
