Yes, it’s sad about the good kids; but the truth is that the Gen Y generation with their brainwashed minds voted for President Obama to sign them up for massive debt and to destroy their futures.

The good kids need to be taught how to survive in this bleak new landscape. They need to learn now the lessons our grandparents learned in the Great Depression.

They need to learn workday skills and a nonmaterialist way of living and religious ideals that will sustain them, and they need to be taught the political realities and how to work in the political/media arena to dig their generation out of this deep hole that is coming.

Yes, the majority of their viewers are liberals; their ratings are tanking too. Olbermann consistently comes in second (or third after Nancy Grace) but always beats Campbell Brown....the worst show on CNN. CNN is turning left because they are getting some strong competition from MSNBC. They have become pretty useless to watch for the most part.

We were about 6 rows in front of Rush at CPAC when he gave his "address to the nation" tonight... it was utterly outstanding. The GIANT ballroom at the Omni Shoreham hotel was packed to the gills, as were at least two overflow ballrooms (with live feeds set up in both for Rush's speech). Rush absolutely brought the house down. I don't think I've ever taken part in so many standing ovations for one speech before. We're all hoarse from screaming... LOL.

The price for CPAC was tough to take this year, but this appearance by Rush made it all worth it! (Although there were also many other incredible speakers and panels this year as well)

And, surely, you understand why. It's not his job. It's not up to him to pick our candidate. It's up to us.

It'd the very same position Reagan promoted. Don't speak ill of any Republican...and let the voters make their selection.

Where we're getting crosswise, though, is with the GOP leadership. It was the party's leadership that supported Specter over Toomey -- when they shouldn't have been involved in the race at all. And, in large part, it was the party's leadership who made it possible for McCain to "game the system" -- and win the party's nomination without ever having won a majority of Republican votes in any primary.

Our bitch isn't with Rush. It's with the RNC.

Only a couple topics a month will see any daylight between us. But there have been some recurring issues where I wish I could sit down over a nice single malt and give him some friendly advice as 19-year listener (and fellow cochlear implantee!). For starters, speaking as a scientific type, it sometimes grates me when he talks about science topics. Occasionally he's a tad reflexive about stuff he's inexpert on. For example, global warming orthodoxy is certainly eminently questionable and fair game, but his way of questioning it is sometimes misguided and opens him up for criticism as uninformed. He'll spotlight facts he thinks are ludicrous, like "there are only 385 carbon dioxide molecules for every million total molecules in the atmosphere," and then he'll chuckle and pooh-pooh away any concerns about the very measurable and clear upward trend in CO2 concentration in the atmosphere (cf. http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/co2_data_mlo.html, for example). In truth, the fact that CO2 is a small component of the atmosphere makes any significant increase in it more troubling, not less. And atmospheric CO2 concentrations have increased nearly 25% since 1960. Now, it's arguable if this is cause or consequence, but the one thing it's not is insignificant.

(In the same vein, Bobby Jindal really stepped in it with his ridicule of volcano monitoring the other day. That is a deadly serious issue, given the worrisome recent activity in the Yellowstone caldera, the threat of lahars down Mt. Ranier, fresh activity in Hawaii, etc. Of all the tomfoolery and pseudoscience the Federal government funds, it's a real shame that Jindal held up for ridicule the one initiative that deserves very serious support for saving lives. We conservatives are sometimes criticized as Luddite and anti-science, and sometimes that's because we've brought it on ourselves.)

I also wish I could advise Rush on some of his phrasing. In recent days he has repeatedly mentioned sub-prime mortgagees who "never had a chance to repay their mortgage." That phrasing makes them sound like victims. It's not that they never had a chance but that they never had a prayer, because they could not afford the loans. He knows this, of course, but the regrettable phrasing persists.

Another issue: early in the financial crisis last Fall, like a lot of folks here, Rush was a bit reflexive in pooh-poohing the severity and global consequences of the credit logjam. After a few days of this under-informed dismissiveness, I was ready to write an email to him in a probably-futile attempt to invite him to rethink his ridicule. Fortunately, one evening he attended a dinner where there were some captains of industry, and they straightened him out. He changed his tune the next day.

Which is one of the things I really like about him. He is open-minded and willing to reconsider a position. It isn't always clear he's open to constructive criticism, but he is. Last week's "Female Summit" featured several women complaining that he does this or does that, to which his response was "No I don't." Doesn't matter what you think, Rush, it's your listeners telling you what they hear. But I'm confident that despite his denials, their message was received, and that he will modulate his performance. Over the years, Rush has impressed me as keenly tuned-in in a way that few celebrities are. Despite his occasionally bombastic persona (do I dare say "schtick"?), the guy's a mensch. He tops my list of people I'd like to have a beer with someday, and for good reason: he's brilliant, he's broadly informed, he's supremely well-spoken, and he's good folk.

Over at the DUmp, they’re their usual ‘tolerant’ bunch—calling Rush all kinds of names (pedophile?! eh?) and making fun of his weight...saying this is all a setup for him to oppose HolyO in 2012 (bwahahahahahahaha!! they don’t realize the white house is BELOW Rush’s pay grade!!!) and patting themselves on the back over HolyO’s ‘gigantic tax cuts for republicans’ (?!?) and how Rush, Michelle Malkin et al are hateful and intolerant for wanting “Obama to fail”-—they are so ignorant in their ignorance it’s actually funny...they talk about how awful conservatives are, then use language that would embarrass any sailor on the planet to describe people who have views different than their ‘tolerant’ views!! I have listened to Rush since the early 90s, and several other conservative talk show people over the years. I have NEVER heard Rush lose his temper uncontrollably (as I have Michael Savage, Dr. Levin, Mark Davis) and even if the caller is a complete idiot, Rush is very polite and gentlemanly toward them, although he may resort to gentle sarcasm (for the folks in Rio Linda, that means he’s gently making fun of them) but nothing hateful or bully-ish.

I can’t think of a single person who is a ‘progressive’ liberal talk person that I can say that about, can you?

I never thought of it this way!!! What a fantastice idea!!! Far better than the tepid, timid GOP response to Oboooombi's SOU speech last Tuesday night.

I watch the speech on CSPAN at eight Eastern. That was one of the most inspiring and energizing speeches I have ever heard! ... The Newt got up and did his professor schtick, and it was great too, very visionary! CPAC must be a fun trip for those young conservatives. I did notice a few sour pusses in the audience, possibly liberals sent to cover the convention for some liberal propaganda outlet.

Thanks. I'd hope he'd enjoy it, as it was very sincere. He's a national treasure. And I hope he finds this thread (I've seen FR up on his monitor on the Dittocam many times) and goes through it, enjoying all the fist-pumping cheers at his performance at CPAC. If we survive the next four years, it will in large part be thanks to Rush. And today he nailed it. Absolutely nailed it.

Now, to make my life complete, I just want to have a video of his CPAC performance downloaded on my computer and iPhone. Rush, if you're reading this, please put a download link on your site! And YouTube and Google Video and iTunes and... But make it a download, not just a stream. I want my very own copy to keep in my pocket.
