For something that started getting organized a mere four days ago, things went very well.
Attendance was estimated at around 100 people- this despite the fact that it was in the low forties and the wind made it feel bitterly cold. Park Police were very friendly; their only concern was that we kept the area between people holding signs at curbside and the main group clear so that pedestrians could pass unencumbered.
I understand that several other Freepers were in attendance, however the only one I actually met was dirtboy.
We got a lot of horn honks and thumbs ups from people in automobiles; the positive response definitely outnumbered the negative responses from the Kool-Aid eaters.
Chris Clemency, who organized this event, said that future events in the Philadelphia area will be planned, and that he expects them to occur on something approaching a monthly basis. With more advance notice (not to mention warmer weather), he expects that future events will attract more participants.
Here is the first batch of photos-
Great party! Don’t stop now: We will need more and more protests with varied themes and frequently expressed outrage.
Tip to all protestors: Don’t assume your fellow protestors agree with you on everything conservative! Welcome homosexuals, moderates, illegal immigrants and anyelse who is equally outraged by Porkulis.
Who is that standing next to you?
I was in DC also and was also about 45 minutes late. I don’t think that we had any speakers earlier - I ran into someone I know and she said that nothing had gone on in the Park prior to my arrival. The CPAC meeting was in the vicinity, so the speakers were over there.
I like your optimistic attitude. I think that O wants to spend us into the ground in order to destroy capitalism, so we have to keep going. People need to be allowed to make and deal with their own mistakes rather than having the government impose its mistakes on the people.
Would you care to share any strategies?
Do you know if there are any plans for a ‘Tea Party’ in Harrisburg?
I’m not an organizer, just a participant.
That being said, I don’t know of one.
A lot of these are coordinated through freedomworks.org
Hey hey!!! these are great great photos and the videos are awesome!!! The independance all pic is the best! There was SOOOOO much enthusiasm at this protest and just a feeling of excitement, energy and patriotism!
Thanks for all who made this possible and thanks to everyone for volunteering to help and chanting at the top of your lungs!!!!! I’m sure they could hear us at the White House!!!
Chris
Great post.
Thanks. Most of the pictures were taken by others.
Yes, but my word for strategies would be predictions of what different people will probably be doing to bring down this idiotic way of thinking.
Capitalism produces so much more and will allow for more progress in the medical fields. At first the richer people benefit, but then the costs go down over time and everyone benefits. With socialism the progress will be fifty or a hundred years later.
Let me think about my predictions for the future. I am optimistic about the future, because pessimism leads to despair and that gets us nowhere. All of us, all races and both sexes need to unite against this failed philosophy of socialism.
Thanks for the ping philly-d-kidder.I knew you would be there:)
