PRINCETON, NJ -- In the days immediately after Barack Obama's nationally televised address to Congress on Tuesday night, his public support has increased significantly to 67% in Feb. 24-26 Gallup Daily polling, and is now just two points below his term high. This comes on the heels of a term-low 59% reported by Gallup on Tuesday.
Obama's speech was well-received, and appears to have won him back support he had been losing in prior days, and then some.
The speech certainly came at an opportune time for Obama, but a recovery was easily achievable because the decline in his approval rating was accompanied by an increase in the percentage of Americans expressing no opinion, rather than an increase in the proportion disapproving of his performance in office.
Since the speech, the percentage having no opinion of Obama has fallen back to 11% from 16%, while his approval rating has increased eight points. There has been a slight drop in his disapproval rating as well, from 25% to 21%.
Obama's approval rebound is due to increased support from all political groups, but especially from independents and Republicans, whose support had been waning. Over the past week, independents' approval of Obama dropped from 62% to 54%, but is now back to 62%. There has been a sharp increase in support among Republicans, from 27% to 42%. Democrats' support for Obama was already extremely high at 86%, but even this has climbed slightly, to 90% in the latest polling.

Unbelievable.
I fully expect, that when unemployment hits 35%, the media will report that Obie’s approval rating is 115%.
Stop the world. I want to get off. This can’t be true. Where do I go hide? This man is despicable. He can’t possibly have an approvable rating above zero.
I.....don’t think so.
I’d imagine opinion polls on Kim Jong-Il in North Korea are pretty predictable, too.
People will see the light eventually. He can’t just continue to make speeches while the economy gets worse and worse. I think a lot of people are still giving him the benefit of the doubt, but when they see the stimulus does NOTHING, people are going to want to see results.
A testimony either to poll manipulation or the gullibility of most of the American people, sad to say.
It should have gone over 70? Wonder why it didn’t after the fawn-fest?? Now the real tumble starts and there are no SOUs to prop it back.
Pray for America
What grave yard are they polling? Brain dead is the only way to explain it.
FWIW. Rasmussen has Obama at 59% approval, 39% disapproval and 29% strong disapproval.
Just Damn. A trillion dollar deficit and his numbers go up. Freakin’ heck.
1) Frosting on a turd
2) Dinner and a mover after the rape.
3) The Great and Powerful Oz in blackface.
Possibly a little bit of both.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 39% of the nations voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Twenty-nine percent (29%) Strongly Disapprove to give Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +10 (see trends). Thats a new high for the number who Strongly Disapprove. Since release of the Presidents budget, the number of Republicans who Strongly Disapprove has grown to 52%; up nine percentage points since Thursday morning. Only 8% of Democrats share such a negative assessment.
This getting into Chavez propaganda territory.
We’re screwed.
The worse things get economically, the more the sheep will embrace Obama’s vision of big government “spread the wealth” socialism.
People can be fooled by slick speeches read from teleprompters because most people are brain-dead idiots. Hitler was a good speaker, too.
I think they are inflating the polls! There is no way he has that high approval, the propaganda is the only machine the messiah knows how to manipulate. Isn’t that surprising that the media pulls the polls when he dictates some of his communist agenda?
