Cal's unemployment rate hits double digits (10.1%)

California's unemployment rate hit double digits last month for the first time in more than a quarter-century, with a half-million fewer jobholders than the state had a year earlier. The state jobless rate of 10.1 percent was topped slightly by the 10.8 percent rate in Los Angeles County ...

"The number of Californians without jobs and a means to provide for their families is a sobering reminder that there is nothing more important than getting California's economy back on track," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said in a statement. "The road to full economic recovery will not be short, but the economic stimulus measures I fought tirelessly to include in the state budget combined with the federal economic recovery agenda will help California create jobs - while laying a strong foundation for better economic times ahead."

Crazy talk I tell you!

Arnold should retire in disgrace. He took a bad situation and made it worse. Where do these people come from?

Given the legislature isn’t California ungovernable?

Could anyone have done any better than Arnold?

Someone with more of a backbone I suppose. He had the media and the spolight that comes with it. He folded like a house of cards.

As a small business owner I can tell you I have to pay far more in to the Unemployment Fund for state AND federal than is withheld for their income taxes. Next comes those pesky Social Security and Medicare taxes which I have to match. Then Federal tax, State Tax, and State Disability Tax. And you think I want to HIRE anyone else. Not to speak of Worker’s Comp premium and oh... their medical, dental and vision premium. Who needs card check when I already give my employees sick leave, employer paid insurance for medical dental and vision. And now I am told I am a fool and have to pay more in taxes. Why not just close up shop???? Can you give me a reason Mr. Obama why I should stay in business?????

One more crack at this. People in California were so pissed off at Davis they gave him the boot. They hoped Arnold would do better. He wrinkled like a cheap suit. Quit giving these guys excuses. You will die of old age waiting for the results.

Until ahnold and all who voted for that tax bill are out of work, there will not be enough unemployment in CA to suit me.

About half the people in the phone book could have done better.
Does it take a genius to realize when you are going broke you may not need to fund embryonic stem cell research and pay for an aggressive global warming agenda?

Lies. All lies. Obama saved us. Obama just created or saved 4 million jobs. Obama promised us all pie. California voted for our Dear Leader. He is the greatest leader ever to live and wouldn’t let them be the first to go down the tube. Would he?

Isn't that the truth. Even better their pictures should appear on milk cartons.

I guess The Terminator took one too many doses of steroids. But what the hell. His ass is safe in any event. He doesn't need to care about anything else.

“It is really bad here. So many of us hit.”

Your fair state is running a $40B deficit, I believe I have read. This debt and deficit did not occur overnight. It's origins go back to the Gray Davis days. And, while this these deficits have been stacking up over the years, your democrat led legislature kept raising taxes, and passing anti-business regulations, and handing out ever more generous ridiculous benefits that you can not afford. I will give you two examples that I have read about; college tuition for your in-state students are some of the cheapest rates in the country. And,over 90% of your CHIPS force received 100% disability upon retirement, in addition to their retirement pensons. There are many other such outrageous benefits that,s being granted that your state can not afford. But, instead of cleaning up your own state and living within your means so to speak, you want other states and their citizens to pay for your lavish and foolish decisions. I say no thanks. Particularity after the trash talk your state officials put on my state (Texas) during the Gray Davis era. Fix your own damn problems....

What’s good for Cali is what America is gonna get.

Bloated government and too many folks who want to live high on the hog. The piper must be paid and this whole country has put off the bill far too long. You really better put in that garden THIS year AND pick up that wood stove.
