Six people killed by gunmen in southern Philippines

Cotabato City, Philippines - Six people, including an 8-year-old girl, were killed in an attack triggered by a land conflict in the southern Philippines, a provincial police chief said Friday. Senior Superintendent Robert Kiunisala said three gunmen barged into the house of the victims Thursday in a village in Tupi town in South Cotabato province, 990 kilometres south of Manila.

This happened on Mindanao, which is where the Jihadists have been active for some time and with renewed vigor lately. No mention of this in the report, but I suspect this is a PC'd news report.

This doesn't sound like it's muslims.
It sounds more like a personal conflict due to some disagreement about some land.

Having lived in the Philippines for 5 1/2 years I could very easily believe this.

On Mindanao, the conflict between Muslims and Christians is over land, though.

No, even on Mindano the conflict is over religon.
The MORO Liberation Front, The muslims, and the Christians all want power.
The muslims and the MLF would like to split away from the Philippines entirely but they don't pull small time stuff like this very much.
