Republicans Smell Weakness In Obama
The Daily Beast ^ | 2/27/2009 | John Batchelor

Posted on 02/27/2009 12:45:16 PM PST by SonOfDarkSkies

The public may have liked the president’s big speech, but the GOP isn’t worried. Insiders say they’re raring for a fight, and that they think Obama’s in a very vulnerable position.

...

“I feel sorry for him sometimes,” confided a senior Republican House member about President Obama. “He invited us over to the White House to explain to us how the stimulus plan is working, and how the budget is going to work, and he spoke to us a couple of times. He doesn’t act like he knows what’s going on with the economy. He’s so afraid of confrontation, when you challenge him, he backs off, like he doesn’t know the right answer. Who does? That’s why you kinda feel sorry for him. Not his guys, they don’t act like they know. Do they notice the stock market sinking? Who doesn’t? There’s this sense of disarray. The administration is made up of a lot of Number twos. The only one with any gravitas is [David] Axelrod. Geithner? He looks like he’s 12-years-old, or a grad student. The president is like a perfect vice president. That’s what the big speech was like. A vice president was talking.”

As the article explains, although he got the votes, we all know Obama didn't deserve or really earn the right to be president. He got in on a public weariness with Bush, a very weak opponent, excellent speech-making skills and a media army that stridently promoted him to a voting population that wasn't really engaged and so, chanting the word 'change' got them to vote for Obama without asking too many questions.

Now, like 'Bill McKay', the fictional (liberal) Democrat U.S. senate candidate from California (played by Robert Redford) in the 1972 film, 'The Candidate', Barack Obama won the job he went after - and doesn't really know what to do with it. Although I'm sure he'll make a mess of it, the unfortunate part is that we'll be a more socialist country and far worse off when Obama and his administration are finally booted out of Washington.

Electing Obama was tragic for America. Although congressional Republicans are apparently energized by Obama's ineptness and the hoped-for defeat of his socialist policies, this is about more than just a party trading places in the seat of power. This is America's future - and it's looking grim, no matter how brave congressional Republicans feel right now or how out of his depth Barack Obama may be.

We're in trouble, folks....and not just the economy. We have a Leninist in the Oval Office. Inexperienced, inept and probably overwhelmed a bit, but still, in a position to do great harm to our country. I hope Obama and his party can be politically thwarted and that Americans will wake up before it's far too late to reverse the damage. I really do.

I have used the analogy that this crash is like skydiving. At 10,000 feet, the ground does not seem to be approaching. At 1000 feet, it’s coming up pretty fast. The last 200 feet, assuming your chute does not open, can seem very rapid indeed.

I think we are in the last couple hundred feet. This is happening at breakneck speed.

Yep. Passive-Aggressive behavior is a lot of fun to deal with. Try one of them with it in your family. By the time you figure out what they’re doing, it’s years later, they’ve taken advantage of you until you’re ashamed of yourself for allowing it. They hate you for being so weak, and show it with blatant disrespectful speech AT you while no one else is listening but you, then they top it off with being stunned that you aren’t still kowtowing to them and theirs; add to that sneaky, humiliating behavior toward you that you don’t figure out until several months later.

I’d much rather a person would step forward like a man instead of using sneaky, nasty methods to *zap* me and apparantly thinking they can still hide what they’ve done from “stupid, uncool” me and remain “Mr. Popularity” with me and everyone else (while laughing uproariously up their sleeve at what they got away with doing to me). Thinly veiled hostility to me is much worse than them simply cutting off all contact in my opinion. I suppose that isn’t as much fun for someone who obviously thinks they’re so “special”. - At this point, it’s sort of fun to watch this person puzzling over why I’ve suddenly quit jumping throught hoops.

Boy, are they in trouble! If Flim-Flam Axelrod has gravitas, then Bill Maher is the next Archbishop of Denver.

He’s so afraid of confrontation, when you challenge him, he backs off, like he doesn’t know the right answer.

Then PUSH BACK!. Push him at every opportunity and on every issue. Get him back on his heels and keep him there.

Am I reading this right?!?! People are watching their life savings disappear, they're losing their jobs while 0bama and his thugs are learning econ 101 through OJT and the GOP feels "sorry" for them. I don't have one ounce of sympathy for that phony 0bama and his tax cheating cronies. He's a usurper and a liar.

The Universities now rule the roost - they have done a magnificent job for SOCIALISM.

I don't disagree with that at all. They have brainwashed a couple of generations into unquestioningly accepting collectivism, political correctness, wacky environmental causes, and always blaming America first. That said, now that a utopian socialist is president, it will be interesting to see how these same generations react to seeing economic opportunities evaporate, their standard of living decline, their family and friends unemployed, and high taxes soaking their parents (and therefore limiting their ability to support them). It's going to be a wake up call. Wonder if it will lead to their re-thinking the dogma they've been fed all these years?

DumbO is stupid and he does not know what he is doing. Either that or he is actively trying to drive the economy into the ground as fast as possible. The idiot only has to read a bit of the work of Lugwig von Mises or F A Hayek and he would know exactly why he should not do what he is doing.

At least the stupid MOFOs that voted for him are going to get the economy they deserve.

You mean years of doing nothing but promoting anti-American ideas while simitaneously being promoted because you are black doesn’t qualify you for office? Who knew?

I agree with you. I feel a sickening feeling each time I hear his name.
I turn off anything that has him speaking. That’s all he is. A big socialist mouth.

Some people are just now finding out what many of us already knew.
Those people will want to jump off a cliff when Zero’s dreams come true.

And the next few yrs in the wilderness ...

The Pubacan party does have some time to spend in the wilderness, but they better damn well spend that time making frequent raiding forays back into the real world. If they spend it navel gazing, they are in for another thumping.

They can put up or shut up! They can start by spelling out the treachery we can all see taking place in the halls of congress and 1600 penn ave. (Some day I hope to capitalize those names again.)

It just sucks when you have read the last chapter and know this is coming. It is funny how the Left clamors to eternally push for Communism which, in the end, we all know, fails.

I guess grabbing votes for the “free, free, free: crowd trumps common sense.

The GOP had better begin dealing with the sell-out, treasonous vermin in its own ranks before feeling any pity for that Marxist thug. Of course Hussein doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. But as long as Specter, Snowe and Collins sell out the American people, he doesn’t really have to know much, does he? Just introduce another pork fest to provide funds for every leftist organization on the planet and wait for the RINO traitors to sign on.

It really is simple: the DNC promotes growth of the dependency class and empowerment for socialist venues (like thuggish unions), democrat voters are mostly a dependency mob, carrots for dependents can be puked out of the tax pool to buy off the stupid dependents. And sadly, the mindless dependents cannot learn (because their stupidity is what the DNC values highly) that their demands destroy the golden goose of self-sufficientcy they've been devouring.
