Forced volunteerism... right.
There’s this thing called the 13th Amendment. I guess it doesn’t matter now though since nobody cares about the Constitution.

A return to slavery might be good. We could take youth from the inner cities, given them distinctive uniforms and shovels and send them out into the fields to dig holes or fill in holes. They could serve their time while living in special camps. Those who choose not to serve — those who try to run away — could be whipped until they smarten up and decide to listen to the overseer. This is all good thinking. [/heavy sarcasm]

Isn’t this Obama’s “Agenda”? Just because he took it off his change.gov website doesn’t mean that modern day slavery to the government isn’t in his plans.
I wonder how all of those college students will feel about this?

I'd make sure that businesses that support community service organizations and hire their graduates get a gigantic tax break. This is before or after Zero decimates the businesses with taxes, regulation, carbon credits, and ....?

All for the collective - communism alert. Nothing like a mandatory ACORN service program to get the Obama youth off to a flying start.

The NH state legislator who is working on state sovereignty, calls this involuntary servitude. Not constitutionally acceptable. He listed several criteria that would qualify it as involuntary servitude.
Although this does call it volunteer work. Is it truly volunteer?

Should community service be an educational or hiring requirement? If a private company wants to make this one of their hiring requirements they should be free to do so.
I think it will cut down considerably on their pool of QUALIFIED candidates for job openings, but that will be their loss.

Should community service be an educational or hiring requirement? Absolutely, Positively, Unequivocally NOT.
