Folks, it’s not just liberal papers in peril...

Conservative papers have lost viewership and advertising, sometimes at a FASTER rate.

The libertarian paper I write for is okay right now, but it is tight and still a bit scary. This is not just a liberal paper issue. Often center-right papers like the Washington Times already have smaller circulations anyway, so any drop will have a greater impact.

The Internet, the economy.....everything is coming together for a perfect storm.

Conservative papers? Plural? Really? Can you name one?

I subscribe to a conservative periodical, and I might allow as to the possibility that there are several, but the last conservative paper I saw was a student paper back in the seventies that was hounded out of existance by the liberal majority at the university. The leftists called and threatened the advertisers until there wasn't any more income. They had to close.

Everywhere I lived as I moved around the country I got the “local” paper. The one published closest to the town I lived in.

If the only local paper was a once weekly four sheeter, I’d get it and the next best “local” paper.

If the town had two morning papers I’d get both for two months or so and there drop the one with the most moonbats.

Now I’m in a one paper town with a far left editorial board that worships the ground any Democrat walks on.

I hear ya! As a conservative cartoonist, I worked for a (mostly) moderate-to-conservative republican paper until the layoffs started last March. The loss to the internet of all that classified and real estate advertising coupled with the worsening economy will kill off ALL hard-copy daily newspapers in America before the next year is out IMHO!
