"Folks, it’s not just liberal papers in peril..."

I hear ya! As a conservative cartoonist, I worked for a (mostly) moderate-to-conservative republican paper until the layoffs started last March. The loss to the internet of all that classified and real estate advertising coupled with the worsening economy will kill off ALL hard-copy daily newspapers in America before the next year is out IMHO!

I am certainly looking for a way out. If it weren’t for two reporters leaving right before a hiring freeze (largely because they saw this coming to a degree and they just got tired of daily deadline stress also), there would have been layoffs at my libertarian paper as well.
