This February, however, Romney is well-positioned to emerge as the leader of the party and the Republican front-runner in 2012. First, money is no obstacle. Romney can self-finance, but he is also a fundraising machine. He eagerly campaigned for McCain, raising record amounts for his White House run, a gesture for which he earned political capital within the Republican Party and should expect repayment at some point. He is also currently donating money through his political action committee to House Republicans who opposed the stimulus package, and he is campaigning for Republicans around the country, including James Tedisco, who is running for the former congressional seat of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), and Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who is running for reelection.
Although the 2012 presidential campaign will not begin in earnest for another two years, Romney has several other factors working in his favor. He currently holds no elected office, so in a time when Republicans are rediscovering their voice, Romney does not have to worry about the compromises and horse trading that accompany public office. Instead, he can speak with the voice of a true conservative and hold accountable members of the Republican Party who defect.

I like Romney.
I know, he is not perfect Reagan was not either. He signed the first no-fault divorce law (as governor of CA) and he supported amnesty. However, the pros outweighed the cons by far.
Romney, because McCain wasn’t enough.
Oh, yea, everybody will rush out to the Romney rallies.
Wonder if this is true or just wishful thinking on the part of the reporter?
There are major problems with Romney, starting with his failure to protect life or marriage as governor of Massachusetts.
Romneycare lets everyone get an abortion for 50 bucks, with a taxpayer subsidy. And there is a special position on the board for a representative of Planned Parenthood.
Moreover, the Mass. Supreme Court decreed that the legislature had to pass gay marriage. But the legislature never did. It was Romney who ordered every justice of the peace either to perform gay marriages or quit their jobs. That was totally uncalled for.
Romney had a ton of money and publicity in the last primary contest, but he was unable to break out of the pack. The reason is that real conservatives don’t trust him—and rightly so.
By the way, Politico supported him last time around, and Politico is slanted way to the left.
No thanks.
If you run into him, ask him if he went to Shot Show this year.
Who DO you want?
And why should the rest of us roll over and accept YOUR pick?
Romney is more than acceptable, and he understand economics like nobody else that we could run.
Romney could very easily point out that it was Democrats who ran most of these financial firms into the ground, with help from the stupid Democrats in Washington.
Mitt!
Oh BS. No more years of the RINO. He can take his liberal arse and shove it with the rest of the RINOs.
He is less likely to face questions about his abortion stance, as he did in 2008,
And double BS on that. He is actively and financially supporting the unequivocally pro-abortion Meg Whitman for governor of California.
Mitt needs to go away and take the rest of the liberal trash with him.
Anyone think Bolling could upset Webb in ‘12?
Read my lips too. NO MORE RINOS.... We are sick of our rat politicians. They are having a field day throwing America to the dogs. We need leaders; not RINOS.
Romney is a RINO and the money behind the RNC will be on him. I ain’t gonna get railroaded into someone I can’t be comfortable with like they did with McCain. I’m tired of losers.
My vote goes for a Palin ticket.
Elvis Has Left The House!
To date, no one in the GOP has shown enough spine, guts, and cajones to stop this madness. That person better appear in the next week or two before the Hitler clone can destroy us further. I called the RNC in DC today and couldn’t get a “live” person to listen to my rant.
God help us all. Zero is the puppet and someone is pulling the strings to destroy our freedom, destroy our security, destroy our economy, destroy our Constitution, destroy our future. IMO, now we know how the Jews felt watching Hitler build his military machine and then came to haul them away.
