This is Romney's year to shine
Politico ^ | 2/26/09 | BRETT JOSHPE

This February, however, Romney is well-positioned to emerge as the leader of the party and the Republican front-runner in 2012. First, money is no obstacle. Romney can self-finance, but he is also a fundraising machine. He eagerly campaigned for McCain, raising record amounts for his White House run, a gesture for which he earned political capital within the Republican Party and should expect repayment at some point. He is also currently donating money through his political action committee to House Republicans who opposed the stimulus package, and he is campaigning for Republicans around the country, including James Tedisco, who is running for the former congressional seat of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), and Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who is running for reelection.

Although the 2012 presidential campaign will not begin in earnest for another two years, Romney has several other factors working in his favor. He currently holds no elected office, so in a time when Republicans are rediscovering their voice, Romney does not have to worry about the compromises and horse trading that accompany public office. Instead, he can speak with the voice of a true conservative and hold accountable members of the Republican Party who defect.

Docile RINO- and GOP-Backstabber Mitt Romney gleefully installs his socialist fascist HillaryCARE=RomneyCARE
FORCED upon Mass. taxpayers without a single citizen's vote (the Romney way).

Gag me..I don’t like Romney because he’s a liberal, not because he’s Mormon (makes no difference to me in reguard to politics).

He won’t be the leader, WHY DON”T HE JUST GO BACK AND TAKE KWENNEDY’S SWEET; Then if he has a good record in a few year, then maybe..

Politico is such a joke!!! Why doesn`t someone challenge them to have a few Republicans on board. TOTAL JOKE!!!!

They are giving props to Romney because they fear and hate Sarah, that`s how I see it. The demonization of Sarah will continue for the next 4 years.

I love Sarah, she is my choice hands down, just not sure how she can recover from the demonization? Rush, Fox News and now Sarah, all have been demonized, it`s hard to over come that.

Sanford and DeMint are both the new conservative leaders; and are governing, it doesn’t mean a hill of beans attending “Conservative” or Republican functions if you don’t govern as one.. ;-)!

Come on. Willard threw away $55-million of his own money for a third place finish in the GOP primary process. Romney is capable of mindless acts of idiocy anytime and anywhere.

"Palin has too many detractors within the party."

This is true; and the surprise, surprise - the vast majority are from .......TeamROMNEY
Feb 2009, and Election2008 were big times for attacks on Gov.Palin, now Gov. Jindal, and always their supporters
Connect the dots...... Just like in 2007 and 2008, all the HATE and dirty tricks lead back to TeamROMNEY.
Review the attacks this week, FReepers. HOW MANY MUST OCCUR BEFORE IT IS NOT CO-INCIDENCE?

Dan Gilgoff is a Romney supporter, fresh
off the bench and in to attack Gov. Palin this month, for backstabber Carpetbagger RINO Mitt Romney.
There are enough attacks against Gov. Palin that this effort is concerted (p < .0001)

Dan Gilgoff: "Bobby Jindal, Catholic, Draws the Same "Secret Muslim" Allegations That Haunted Obama"
February 24, 2009 - I'm surprised that a few comments on my post about Bobby Jindal as the new face of
Christian conservatism allege that he's got ancestral Muslim roots, in addition to the acknowledged
Hinduism of his Indian born parents.
Remind you of any other recent rumor campaigns against promising young minority politicians?
What's surprising is that some of the comments appear to be from pro-Sarah Palin conservatives."

BZZZZZZT: The Real Deal is otherwise.

Dan Gilgoff, May 8, 2007, "A seat at Romney's table"
"If the next Republican to occupy the White House must follow that same strategy,
Mitt Romney, former Massachusetts governor, may be in much better shape than polls suggest.
..At last week's debate, Romney went furthest in speaking the language of the Christian Right, ...
Romney's also meeting with evangelical leaders,
even sending them wooden chairs mounted with plaques declaring,
"You are welcome at our table anytime."

Gilgoff: "Bigoted Redneck Evangelicals Stopped the Nomination of Marvelous Mitt
.... I’m so offended at the suggestion of Dan Gilgoff in USA Today
that the reason that Mitt Romney lost is because we Evangelicals just couldn’t bring ourselves to vote for a Mormon.
I’ve followed the national conversation among Conservative Christians about Mitt Romney.
Little of it centered on his Mormonism, much more on the fact of his shift on the issues."

Dan Gilgoff Romney propagandist: "("A Massachusetts Conservative," U.S. News & World Report, 2/12/07)
Romney ... (w)ith a Democratic-controlled state legislature, he managed to
balance the budget without raising taxes."
[Romney called the tax increases "fees", and even raised them in NH !!!]

Joe Scarborough is yet another Romney supporter,
in to attack Gov. Palin this month, for backstabber RINO Mitt Romney.

"Pat Buchanan asks Ziegler who were the main culprits in the media attack against Palin,
and Joe Scarborough interrupted Ziegler and would not let him answer!"

"Scarborough: Romney Won Debate"
"Mitt Romney Absolutely Dominated"

"Joe Scarborough losing more and more sleep over McCain
"John McCain is ruining Joe Scarborough’s life. Joe can’t sleep or eat.
His man Romney is now showing 15 points behind McCain nationally.
Joe is sick over it. How could the good republicans of this nation vote for such a liberal.
He aims to do something about it. He doesn’t know what yet, but dammit,
Romney is going to be President if he has his way about it. He knows the real Mitt.
He knows Mitt simply lied to get elected in MA. He doesn’t know why he lied, and he doesn’t care."

More dots...... Carol Platt Liebau is yet another Romney supporter,
in to attack Gov. Palin this month, for backstabber Carpetbagger RINO Mitt Romney.
"Mitt Romney has been the most consistently excellent debater overall in the two meetings of the Republican candidates.
He is personable, clearly well informed, incredibly well-funded, and surrounded by a crack staff.
All that, taken together, goes far to explain why his numbers in Iowa -- and elsewhere -- are looking better and better."

"But the other candidate who's very compelling is Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney."

Even more dots...... Douglas Kmiec is yet another Romney supporter from the Romney Keep,
in to attack on the GOP, for backstabber Carpetbagger RINO Mitt Romney.
"Romney supporter turned Obama man Douglas Kmiec indulged in quite a litany of name-calling,
finger pointing and demagoguery against the GOP that would have been amazing from the same man only one year ago.
Kmiec has shown that he no longer cares much how he is viewed, going full Democrat Partisan at this point.
"

"Kmiec was named by Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney
to head the Romney for President Committee
on the Courts and the Constitution in 2007."

Surprise. Surprise. Connect the dots......
Cal Thomas is yet another Romney supporter,
in to attack Gov. Palin this month, for backstabber Carpetbagger RINO Mitt Romney.
"Cal’s Surprising Suggestion: ‘I Wish The Palins Would Leave The Stage For Awhile’"

"Romney obviously hopes that a growing number of Americans
accept the view of Cal Thomas, a popular journalist and an evangelical."

"Writing in his syndicated column, Cal Thomas commended Romney
for standing "on principle" and putting "more noble things ahead of self-interest." "

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Similar to Romney's other scortched earth tactics:

Novak: "Fred Thompson drop-out rumors traced to Romney campaign"

Said Novak: "The rumors were traced in part to Mitt Romney's campaign,
trying to stir up strife between McCain and Thompson
."

"Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries,
(Romney) lost Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and California.
The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states;
and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals
couldn't spare the cash to advertise.
Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."

[Romney: A Mistake for McCain, 7/23/2008, Dick Morris]

Romney:
"You, and your spouses and friends, will embrace this attack on Gov. Palin,
her children, and any other threatening candidate.
Create, then support, the attack from our northern lands, the media, and TeamObama.
I will gain GOP favor by condemning the attacks and
ordering it opposed from our lands in the south.
Whichever way the tide runs, we will rise.
"

Oh come on. That is not the sole reason why I'm not interested in him as our nominee. I also admire Rudy Guiliani and I think he has a place in our party, doesn't mean he should be our nominee ever and the msm doesn't have to push either of them for me to reach that conclusion.

I like Romney, too. He is articulate and intelligent. I changed my mind on abortion, and I believe others can and mean it as much as I do, too.

After 4 Years of Obama, the Party would be Happy with Woody Woodpecker if he sounds even remotely Conservative. But we’ll have to see how much is left of the Country when the “One “ is done with his first 4. There may be nothing left to Govern.

I changed my mind on abortion, and I believe others can and mean it as much as I do, too.

Considering Mitt is actively and financially supporting the totally pro-abortion committed Meg Whitman for governor of California I guess will actually have to wait for Mitt to truly change his mind about abortion...despite his disingenuous public statements to the contrary.
