This is Romney's year to shine

This February, however, Romney is well-positioned to emerge as the leader of the party and the Republican front-runner in 2012. First, money is no obstacle. Romney can self-finance, but he is also a fundraising machine. He eagerly campaigned for McCain, raising record amounts for his White House run, a gesture for which he earned political capital within the Republican Party and should expect repayment at some point. He is also currently donating money through his political action committee to House Republicans who opposed the stimulus package, and he is campaigning for Republicans around the country, including James Tedisco, who is running for the former congressional seat of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), and Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who is running for reelection.

Although the 2012 presidential campaign will not begin in earnest for another two years, Romney has several other factors working in his favor. He currently holds no elected office, so in a time when Republicans are rediscovering their voice, Romney does not have to worry about the compromises and horse trading that accompany public office. Instead, he can speak with the voice of a true conservative and hold accountable members of the Republican Party who defect.

Yeah Right. That’s why Michael Reagan likes and supported Mitt.

“You are right the Romneys couldn’t stand him especially Mitt Romney.

Reagan was why Mitt left the republican party.”

That is why Mitt Romney registered as independent during the Reagan years. Mitt did not re register republican until after Reagan had left office.

Do you want to see the video of him publicly campaigning on being independent during the “Reagan/Bush years?

They fear Sarah Palin because she is a ROCK STAR. It’s the one thing they can’t fathom a conservative being. They think rock stars can only be libs. Sarah blows the paradigm to pieces. She’s such a natural that she makes Comrade Obamsky look like a rank amateur. With a flick of her hand she is the 2012 nominee. Sarah Palin is not just a person, she is a MOVEMENT. Remember the last time we had such a candidate? (I know you do.)

Of course he does. He implemented socialized medicine in Massachusetts.

Some of us have memories that last a whole lot longer than today's Romney talking points.

Ed Haislmaier of the Heritage Foundation designed the healthcare reforms enacted in Massachusetts. Romney vetoed 8 sections of tacked-on legislation including the employer assessment, dental benefits to poor residents on Medicaid and health coverage to senior and disabled immigrants not eligible for federal Medicaid. The legislature overrode all eight vetoes.

Anyone who thinks The Heritage Foundation is a socialist organ with a socialist research fellow in Health Policy Studies who goes around implementing socialized medicine needs to have his head examined.

How much money has Heritage received from Mr. Romney or his closest associates?

Be very careful how you answer. There just might be someone here who knows the answer in detail.

Right. Romney ginned the Heritage Foundation.

In the relevant year his foundation gave Heritage $25,000 and your insinuation is paranoid.

So, he gave them money then.

Do you know how much he and his wealthy supporters have given them since?

your insinuation is paranoid.

It's not paranoid at all. Romney [leveraged buyout tycoon] and his supporters are buying up the RNC and its biggest and most powerful satellite organizations at a dizzying pace. All who can be bought are being bought.

And the purge of those who oppose him in those organizations is nearly complete.

My new tagline is in response to yours.

Socialist Republicans are destroying this free republic just as surely and steadily as socialist Democrats.

Right. And that's why he's President Of The United States.

Mr. "make all the promises you have to" Romney sure wants to be. That's obvious.

Is that why Michael Reagan wrote a column about Sarah Palin and titled it "Welcome Back, Dad" ? Because he "likes and supported Mitt"?????

Michael Reagan addresses his earlier acceptance of Romney in his opening sentence of his article about the real deal, governor Palin.

I'm not a fan of Michael Reagan remembering him from his local beginnings in talk radio before he went national but look at the difference in tone from these two articles. One seems resigned and practical and the other one soars high as the spirit of his father is reborn in the person of Governor Palin.

Romney article 2007:
"I don’t know if Diogenes ever found that honest man, but I do know that those Republicans are never going to find the perfect candidate, simply because he does not exist.
Some Republicans insist that the only perfect candidate would be a clone of my Dad, Ronald Reagan. Aside from the fact that there is no such thing, it’s important to recognize that Ronald Reagan, as he often admitted, was anything but perfect.

Palin article 2008:
" I've been trying to convince my fellow conservatives that they have been wasting their time in a fruitless quest for a new Ronald Reagan to emerge and lead our party and our nation. I insisted that we'd never see his like again because he was one of a kind.

I was wrong!

Wednesday night I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he's a she.

And what a she!

DeMint for VP...maybe. But then again we really need solid fiscal conservatives like DeMint in the senate. I just don’t want a senator for president. I made an exception in supporting McCain but that was it and it’s over now.

I agree with you, I want someone with executive experience which is why allowing so many states to go democratic governor has been a disaster... then when we end up with governors like Crist and Schwatzeneger it hurts more than it helps. Steele is saying he recognizes we need conservative GOP governors, hopefully he will be doing more than talk.

We need to look to govenors as our farm team. Fortunately we still have better prospects among them than the democrats (even thought they have more right now).
