Eye of God photographed in Space
26/02/2009
Eye of God... this breathtaking image of the Helix nebula, giant rings of gas blown off a dying star 700 light years from the Sun, was captured with a special camera at an observatory in Chile. What happens if it blinks...

We should be watching for a point source blueshifted Solar spectrum in it anyway.

Just for fun I tracked down the high res version of this image, over 9 megs, and will see how it prints out on my large format HP-130 printer. I've done lots of others from this source and they can be quite magnificent when displayed as a 20x30 poster.
The image as it is downloaded is at 600 dpi, 16,000 x 16,000 pixels. That's more resolution than I need to make a nice 24x24 print so I'm waiting right now as the system resizes it down what the printer really needs, 150 dpi.
We'll see how it goes!

The colors are false. The real coloring looks kind of bloodshot. The color shown on the link is the actual colors though they are somewhat too intense.

Applying any physical attributes to God is stupid. And likely self-promotional in some way. I saw this picture before. It's a picture of what was there 700 years ago.
For once, I would like to see a picture of things inside a whole different GALAXY. Just to see what was happening there billions of years ago. Of course they are far away in space in time right now then we observe them just now.

I never contemplated that God was a stoner.

I remember of poster from way back in 1972 that showed the Big Blue Marble image of Earth with the caption, “Earth, this is God. I’ve found a buyer. I need you out in 30 days!”
I made one of my own on several occasions but someone always talks me out of it. My love is doing large format prints. My wife thinks I’m a bubble off plumb for getting so much delight in poster sized prints, but that’s just my thing. She’s pretty tolerant, seeing that my hang up could be worse, much worse!

Ive always thought the earth could be a neutron or proton or electron orbiting around a single atom making the universe one being. God lives in us and we live in Him. If that were so, then God's Creation would be what you just described as well as Microsoft systems and the Democrats ....

re: URL please
Oops, my bad. Sorry. I got so busy playing with the image I forgot to post a link.
When you get to the actual download page you will get an error saying the image can't be displayed because of an error. Not to be discouraged. I did a right-click and then a save as of the jpeg file and it worked just fine. I have the file and will put it on my server if you find you can't get it for some reason. It's about 9 megs.
