I wish I could say that I am in "Shock and Awe", but it is more like "Shock and Disdain". It seems that now Obama is going to cap Federal and Milatary pay raises. Okay, I'm confused aren't our Congressional leaders "Federal Employees"? Didn't they just take a pay raise of almost 3% back in December?
Now tell me this, does it make sense to cut the raises that our Military Personnell get for defending our country and putting their life on the line every day, but not to cut the raises of our Congressional offices that sit on their bums and are only in session from 94-111 days a year depending on the year. That number is based on figures from Thomas.loc.gov,And as stated by Truth and Justice back in December, that comes out to about 15K for every day they are in session....... yes that's what I said, Fifteen thousand dollars a day, sounds like one of the best paying jobs in America for some of the least approved of Government officials.
Instead U.S. taxpayers will dish out an extra $2.5 million to boost annual congressional salaries by $4,700. This may seem outrageous since polls have consistently revealed historically low approval ratings for Congress in the last year amid a series of bipartisan legal scandals and corruption probes.
The fiscal 2010 budget summary released this morning notes that Obama has ordered a freeze of White House senior staff pay. "In this budget, federal employees also will be asked to do their part," the summary states. The proposed increase compares with a 3.9 percent increase for federal workers in 2009 and 3.5 percent in 2008. A senior official for the nation's largest federal employee union described the small increase as understandable. "It's a modest increase, but it certainly is prudent," said Jacque Simon, public policy director for the American Federation of Government Employees. "We're in an economic crisis and everybody understands that," Simon said. "While it's certainly a modest pay increase, federal employees recognize the severity of the economic situation, and we're viewing it from that context." Pay increases for men and women in uniform are to be capped 2.9 percent, an amount described in the budget summary as reflecting "the priorities of an administration that is committed to caring for the service members who protect our security and the families who support them." Last year, military personnel received a 3.9 percent pay increase, half a percentage point more than President George W. Bush recommended. The administration describes the proposed increase as reflective of the current economic crisis and bringing federal pay and benefit practices more in line with what workers in the private sector are experiencing.
And since congress wants to cap the banks admin salaries that receive stimulus monies at 400K, doesn't that mean that some are going to take a "pay cut"?,,,,not that some don't deserve it, trust me, I believe some do,.....but, yes a big "BUT" here. This is the problem I have with that.-- If an employee was hired to work for 600k a year and then you cut them to 400k a year that is a 33% pay cut. Shouldn't our wasteful corrupt Government officials in Congress that forced those very banks to fail take the same 33% pay cut? (just a scenario)
We need to get a good attorney who will take on the case for military against the Kenyan-born marxist over his Mobassa BC.
He wants good people in the military to quit so he can load it up with thugs.

It has become crystal clear: Zero hates our country. Is he even an American? Still waiting to know.
Well great, less money and Don’t ask Don’t tell. That ought to scare the heck out of the terrorists.
bump...
I guess we now have Clinton 2.0. I hate this man with everything in my being.
He does not care about the military, our security or the economy. It is all about grabbing power. He is owned by the Saudis and probably China.
Wow.. I was RIGHT.. He DID lie during his speech when he said he was going to raise active duty pay for the military.
Once again a Democrat president lied to the military and the American people when he promised more benefits and pay raises for the military.
I knew it was a lie when he spoke it. The same as his claim that he is against big government. Yeah right.
Support the troops...never vote Democrat.
You wish it was Clinton 2.0. More like Mugabe 2.0. He is far far worse than Clinton.
He needs money for his civilian army.
I hope someone sends this to Gen Zinni, Adm Johnson who happily works in the belly of the beast, and all the other Obong-o loving gen/flag officers who dance with The One. Shame on them all...
I know. The second he said it I almost threw my cup at the TV and screamed, "LIAR!"
Anyone....didn’t he say in his speech the other night that he was giving the troops a raise and making sure they received the care they needed?
What’s the sense, they can cut their salaries back to “Zero” and then put a stipulation in the “stimulus package” about politician reimbursement. Plus, do you really think that the paycheck they get is their main source of income? No, it’s kick backs from the so called “pay off” package and many other sources where they get the BULK of their income.
Believe me, their pay is “chump change” in comparison to what the radical/terrorists give them!
chump change or chimp change?
As a veteran who served when Carter was President, I do not find this surprising whatsoever. Obama’s disdain for all things military will become more clear as he unfolds his Progressive agenda. Preventing military pay from keeping pace with the cost of living is just another slap in the face to a very dedicated part of society. Just like the Carter days of old, any high ranking professional leaders left in the military that hadn’t bailed during Clinton’s years will be rethinking their commitment to this disaster in progress, i.e. the U.S.A.
Think, Hugo Chavez!
