Insane. Childish. Disaster.
And those were some of the kinder comments from political pundits about Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and his response to President Barack Obamas speech to Congress on Tuesday night.
Jindal, 37, a Rhodes scholar and son of Indian immigrants, is considered a rising star in Republican ranks and a likely 2012 presidential candidate. GOP leaders, looking for a fresh face for the partys image, tapped Jindal earlier this month for the high-profile task of rebutting Obamas first address to a joint session of Congress.
But in both style and substance, Jindals speech has drawn flak from Republicans and Democrats alike.
His criticism of government spending for emergency economic relief has been widely panned, especially given his states receipt of billions in federal assistance after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. And Jindals voice and earnest, awkward delivery have drawn comparisons to Kenneth Parcell, the geeky page on the NBC comedy 30 Rock.
Indeed, a new Facebook group titled Bobby Jindal is Kenneth the Page had already attracted more than 1,800 members Wednesday afternoon.

WOW . . . AP and the Houston Chronicle both...Gee, who would have expected that.
Unreported - - Louisiana had a NET GAIN in jobs/employment last month....along with .....guess ?
DC
Content was fine. Delivery blew chunks.
Reality sucks but it is what it is.
Nothing new here - liberals usually result to childish insults and name-calling rather than honestly debate the issues.
Thank Goodness for the AP. How elese would we get the news that not just the dims but the entire GOP regard Jindal as a geek and riducule his absurd criticism of govt spending.
In other news today, we learned that critics of Obama are guilty of Hate Speech.
I am really curious whether the media can match the fervor with which it sought to destroy the Bush Presidency with its fervor in propping up Obama’s. I realize the media will have to resort to using steriods to challenge its previous level of vitriol toward Bush with praise and homage to Obama, but the cause is important enough to them to weather any sacrifice.
Note to fellow conservatives, we need to learn from the dems and never say anything bad about anyone in our party unless they hve already been found guilty. I think Jindal could use a little media coaching but I didn’t think it was as bad as they are making it out to be.
How predictable, the MSM jumps on Jindal, mocking his accent. We’re the racists, just remember that. F’in disgusting pukes.
Facebook lampooning = intelligent discourse?
Sheesh, this country is full of idiots. No wonder Obama won.
BS! You want to apply that to Specter, Snowe & Collins too?
We need to call out people that aren’t acceptable.
NOTE: Jindal is just fine but I found his delivery Al Goresque
I think he did just fine. I never thought Obama was that good of a speaker, but the dominant media makes us believe that he is. If Jindal was a black liberal Democrat, the media would be fawning all over him about how a wonderful speaker he is.
His delivery was like a parent reading a bedtime story to a child and the backdrop looked the Tara mansion in Gone With the Wind. Very bright guy, but needs a lot of work on speechgiving and staging!
