I will have to do some reasearch but I am almost CERTAIN that the democrats had democrat governors issue their “response” to George Bush’s speeches and possibly at least once to a state of the Union address.
A Democrat "Rising Star" by the name of Michael Dukakis did their response to a Reagan SOTU address.
Dem reps and senators came on in a sort of interview style with Dukakis asking them their opinions and the diminutive dunce offering his.
Nearly every one of them started off with, "Well, Mike, I'm glad you asked that question. Let me just say that (fill in the lib talking point) is not good for the country and is the wrong direction we need to be taing."
I believe Kane did one. But I wish the practice would stop. The responder always looks bad in comparison to the prez, simply because of the contrast in atmosphere.
