Is it possible for Barack Obama to pick a Commerce Secretary nominee wholl actually make it past first base? Bill Richardson withdrew in the midst of a pay-for-play scandal. Judd Gregg withdrew in the midst of a humiliating power play over the Census and porkulus bill.
Now, former Democrat Gov. Gary Locke a lawyer for international firm Davis, Wright, and Tremaine who specializes in China is rumored to be the next nominee for the post. The MSM is pulling for him. WaPo writes: Locke is regarded as a safe choice by senior officials in the Obama administration given his long history in public life, his strait-laced reputation and his bipartisan governing credentials. Wishful thinking? Willful cluelessness? Probably a bit of both.
WA Ping
Although I am no fan of Locke (he was my governor), he was exhonerated of all charges to the best of my knowledge.
Still, if he was a republican, the press would villify him.
"What, me launder dirty foreign money? Everyone does it!"
It is all Chicago Politics writ large. Think of it. Richard Daley and his organization are running the country. When are they going to pull the first unco-operative Congressman out of the Potomac with concrete on his feet?
Good grief. Is there an honest one out there? Looks like zero turned to Clinton for advice...’sure, I know a geat guy’.
By the way, whatever happened to Hillary’s bundler? Is he in prison waiting trial? out on bail? suicide watch?
Jonny Haung and Locke are more then friends!
The only good thing about this appointment is we get the doofus out of the state. Ron Sims is gone. Add The Queen (gregoire) and it would be the trifecta.
Last I heard Norman was in prison over a fraud charge from long ago.
The feds have charged him too but if he has been tried on those I either missed it or have forgotten about it.
