WASHINGTON - From a Lexington office complex, Mitt Romney's political action committee has ensured the former presidential candidate's omnipresence on cable news shows, ....

But for the next year and a half, the center of Romney's political universe will shift west to Sacramento, where key parts of his operation have reassembled on behalf of Meg Whitman, a longtime friend and former business colleague ....

The former eBay CEO is still readying her headquarters, but it has already become something of a campaign-in-exile for Romney's ambitions, which could include another presidential run in 2012....

"Mitt's going to be involved in dozens and dozens of races, but one that he's particularly excited about is the race for governor of California," said Eric Fehrnstrom, a Romney spokesman....

A Whitman victory could deliver Romney a valuable foothold in a state that will likely be a big, early prize on the Republican nominating calendar. Her 2010 campaign will also offer a...

Romney and Whitman both harshly criticized the $787 billion stimulus package championed by President Obama and congressional Democrats, saying it includes too much bloated spending and not enough tax cuts. Whitman is also railing against the plan, signed into law yesterday, of tax increases and spending cuts to plug California's $42 billion budget deficit, saying in a statement it "will kill jobs, hurt families, and make future deficits worse."

The parallel careers of Romney and Whitman - ...

Yet Romney is the only one of the three considered a possible 2012 presidential candidate, ...

You persist in deluding yourself and others. That was then -- this is now.

No, you persist in missing the point.

You're trying to turn my comments into something that they are not.

I was responding to EV's contention that those who supported Gov. Romney were either "naive or stupid". My response was completely accurate for the context. Those were a few of his supporters at the time.

I'll file that under *examples of typical gross arrogance from Romney supporters*. If I have any room left on the hard drive after dealing with them in '08.

Really? Arrogance?

You openly call me a liar, and my rejection of your opinion makes me arrogant?

Mmmm kaaaayyyy.

‘Huh? What are you talking about? ‘

I’m talking about your post to me, where you claim I said somethign about Romney being a ‘conservative’.

I’ve NEVER posted such a thing, on any thread, here at FR or elsewhere, going back over a decade.

You can’t ‘cut and paste’ anything to support the remark. No need to get testy being called on it, it happens to all of us at some point in these internet forums, and the debates that ensue.

Yes, its a Conservative Website. So? I didn’t bring up ‘Conservative’ let alone falsely attribute it to another poster in this context. You did.

You further compound your own error by then ‘guessing’ I am saying I don’t ‘embrace conservative principals’ which once again isn’t supported by anything you could ‘cut and paste’ to show otherwise.

I guess thats why the request you ‘cut and paste my remark’ has you in such a tizzy.

Relax, its only the internet. And I have a quarter of a million posts over the past decade between FR and other political forums that debunks your hilariously funny ‘guess’ about my views.

Try again!

The last time I did so, I caught all kinds of heat here at FR because I noted Arnold was the only kind of Republican that could win a statewide race there. The MCclintock supporters still haven’t forgiven me to this day....(chuckle)

Guess what, Badeye? I was RIGHT THERE WITH YOU back then, in total agreement with you. I opted to pass voting for McClintock because I knew he couldn't win over liberal, racist Cruz Bustamonte (and I still think he couldn't have won), and I voted for Arnold. Arnold won, as I knew he could and figured he would. I felt good about it at the time.

Since then, Arnold has done as much damage to California as anything Bustamonte could have done, and guess what, Scooter? ARNOLD HAS DONE MORE DAMAGE TO THE GOP THAN BUSTAMONTE COULD HAVE ACCOMPLISHED IN HIS WILDEST DREAMS.

If I had it to do over again, understanding that McClintock could not win, I would do what I could to therefore see Bustamonte beat Arnold. In retrospect, I would rather have taken my chances with Bustamonte. I LEARNED A LESSON.

You have learned nothing at all. Nada, zilch, null. Zero. You were correct "back then" that "Arnold was the only kind of Republcian that could win a statewide race" in California. YOU WERE MISTAKEN, as was I, that such a Republican was better than a Democrat.

If you don't learn from your mistakes, you're doomed to repeat your failures. ROMNEY IS SUCH A FAILURE.

Just answer the questions.

You didn't so much ask a question as assemble a list of epithets and unproved accusations with a question mark slapped on the end.

Can you create a real question? I'll be happy to answer one.

My stars, you really take the cake. You know well that you're trying to present the case that those pundits still think Romney is a good thing (as if they ever did ... when in truth most of them thought he was the least bad out of a bad lot).

The behavior of Romney supporters speaks volumes about their hero.

Can you create a real question? I'll be happy to answer one.

Sure, since you missed the multiple posts in which I did exactly that.

Here's a couple:

1. Do you endorse Meg Whitman as Governor of California?

2. Do you agree with Mitt Romney's endorsement of her?

3. Do you believe, since there isn't a shadow of doubt that the woman is a hardcore liberal, that Romney's endorsement of her goes to his veracity during the last election, especially in light of his decades-long support for the exact positions she espouses?

I'll await your succinct, honest responses.

"Mitt Romney...alienating America one group at a time."

Romney "Disses" Amateur Radio In Televised Town Meeting (and why he won't get my vote)

Weekly Report on TeamROMNEY

Surprise. Surprise. Do TeamROMNEY's attacks on Gov.Palin, her children, and her supporters EVER END?
Apparently not. Now they extend to ... attack the GOP, too.

Connect the dots......
Dan Gilgoff is yet another Romney supporter,
off the bench and in to attack Gov. Palin this month, for backstabber Carpetbagger RINO Mitt Romney.
There are enough attacks against Gov. Palin that this effort is concerted (p < .0001)

Dan Gilgoff: "Bobby Jindal, Catholic, Draws the Same "Secret Muslim" Allegations That Haunted Obama"
February 24, 2009 - I'm surprised that a few comments on my post about Bobby Jindal as the new face of
Christian conservatism allege that he's got ancestral Muslim roots, in addition to the acknowledged
Hinduism of his Indian born parents.
Remind you of any other recent rumor campaigns against promising young minority politicians?
What's surprising is that some of the comments appear to be from pro-Sarah Palin conservatives."

BZZZZZZT: The Real Deal is otherwise.

Dan Gilgoff, May 8, 2007, "A seat at Romney's table"
"If the next Republican to occupy the White House must follow that same strategy,
Mitt Romney, former Massachusetts governor, may be in much better shape than polls suggest.
..At last week's debate, Romney went furthest in speaking the language of the Christian Right, ...
Romney's also meeting with evangelical leaders,
even sending them wooden chairs mounted with plaques declaring,
"You are welcome at our table anytime."

Gilgoff: "Bigoted Redneck Evangelicals Stopped the Nomination of Marvelous Mitt
.... I’m so offended at the suggestion of Dan Gilgoff in USA Today
that the reason that Mitt Romney lost is because we Evangelicals just couldn’t bring ourselves to vote for a Mormon.
I’ve followed the national conversation among Conservative Christians about Mitt Romney.
Little of it centered on his Mormonism, much more on the fact of his shift on the issues."

Dan Gilgoff Romney propagandist: "("A Massachusetts Conservative," U.S. News & World Report, 2/12/07)
Romney ... (w)ith a Democratic-controlled state legislature, he managed to
balance the budget without raising taxes."
[Romney called the tax increases "fees", and even raised them in NH !!!]

Joe Scarborough is yet another Romney supporter,
in to attack Gov. Palin this month, for backstabber RINO Mitt Romney.

"Pat Buchanan asks Ziegler who were the main culprits in the media attack against Palin,
and Joe Scarborough interrupted Ziegler and would not let him answer!"

"Scarborough: Romney Won Debate"
"Mitt Romney Absolutely Dominated"

"Joe Scarborough losing more and more sleep over McCain
"John McCain is ruining Joe Scarborough’s life. Joe can’t sleep or eat.
His man Romney is now showing 15 points behind McCain nationally.
Joe is sick over it. How could the good republicans of this nation vote for such a liberal.
He aims to do something about it. He doesn’t know what yet, but dammit,
Romney is going to be President if he has his way about it. He knows the real Mitt.
He knows Mitt simply lied to get elected in MA. He doesn’t know why he lied, and he doesn’t care."

More dots...... Carol Platt Liebau is yet another Romney supporter,
in to attack Gov. Palin this month, for backstabber Carpetbagger RINO Mitt Romney.
"Mitt Romney has been the most consistently excellent debater overall in the two meetings of the Republican candidates.
He is personable, clearly well informed, incredibly well-funded, and surrounded by a crack staff.
All that, taken together, goes far to explain why his numbers in Iowa -- and elsewhere -- are looking better and better."

"But the other candidate who's very compelling is Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney."

Even more dots...... Douglas Kmiec is yet another Romney supporter from the Romney Keep,
in to attack on the GOP, for backstabber Carpetbagger RINO Mitt Romney.
"Romney supporter turned Obama man Douglas Kmiec indulged in quite a litany of name-calling,
finger pointing and demagoguery against the GOP that would have been amazing from the same man only one year ago.
Kmiec has shown that he no longer cares much how he is viewed, going full Democrat Partisan at this point.
"

"Kmiec was named by Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney
to head the Romney for President Committee
on the Courts and the Constitution in 2007."

Surprise. Surprise. Connect the dots......
Cal Thomas is yet another Romney supporter,
in to attack Gov. Palin this month, for backstabber Carpetbagger RINO Mitt Romney.
"Cal’s Surprising Suggestion: ‘I Wish The Palins Would Leave The Stage For Awhile’"

"Romney obviously hopes that a growing number of Americans
accept the view of Cal Thomas, a popular journalist and an evangelical."

"Writing in his syndicated column, Cal Thomas commended Romney
for standing "on principle" and putting "more noble things ahead of self-interest." "

Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Similar to Romney's other scortched earth tactics:

Novak: Fred Thompson drop-out rumors traced to Romney campaign

Said Novak: The rumors were "traced in part to Mitt Romney's campaign,
trying to stir up strife between McCain and Thompson
."

"Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries,
(Romney) lost Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and California.
The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states;
and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals
couldn't spare the cash to advertise.
Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."

Ah...you want me to lie about what I think?

Uh...No. Sorry.

Romney realizes, as I have for a decade, you won’t get a ‘conservative’ elected to the Governors Mansion in California. At least thats what I suspect here.

Its the same reason McClintock had no chance of winning the recall race after Davis was shown the door.

I’d rather have a honest to God Conservative in California, but the state doesn’t have enough Conservatives for that to happen. Those days are long gone.

Geez. Man. See, so many of Romney supporters, aside from having really dumb, circular, scribbly arguments (as is your post, which really doesn't make any more sense than a hysterical woman trying to defend the indefensible), come across as arrogant, elitist, controlling, manipulative, devious, condescending, and rather nasty in personality.

Sure, other folks who support other candidates or cause on Free Republic show some of the same tendencies at times, including yours truly, no doubt; but not with the dependable consistency nor in the very high numbers that Romney supporters confirm over and over and over on Free Republic.

It is very, very enlightening.
