"And to keep the sacred trust with those we serve, we will raise their pay and give our veterans the expanded heath care and benefits that they have earned."

The socialists are going to make sure Iraq and Afghanistan are another Vietnam, no matter how much it costs us.

Yes, and I shudder to think what lengths they will go to in order to accomplish their traitorous goals.

0bamas new military will be trading in their weapons for soup ladles, shovels, hammers and trash bags.

Marines will be running the soup kitchens in places like Haiti as they did under Clinton.

Army will be digging ditches and building houses for 0bama’s relatives in Kenya.

Navy will be picking flotsam and jetsam off the beaches of Indonesia.

Air Force will be flying Friends of 0Bama and Pelosi on worldwide vacations and importing Japanese Beef and Iranian caviar in fresh daily for White House consumption.

Bringing this back to center, Obama hasn’t really proposed spending less on anything so far.

Yeah, he campaigned on buffering the USMC and the war in Iraq. He hasn’t asked for any specific DOD cuts yet. Gates is stil running the show at the Pentagon.

Cutting the V-22 would not be a bad thing. Swinging the FCS into reality would not be a bad thing. Buying the extra 60 F-22s Conrgress approved in this last session, ending it, and concentrating funds on the F-35 is a good. The cost overruns on so many programs right now are worthy of prosecution.

The U.S. Navy embarked on its 313 combat ship program but I don’t know if it’s necessary or relavent anymore. LCS is looking more and more a marginal, limited idea while we could spend money on vessels bigger but more capable flexible.

Rumfeld’s early ‘00s reorg was not all that. I felt he wanted to readjust the U.S. military for purely regional conflicts at the expense of global ones. Some of the ideology was good but not all......the Crusader was a hole.

0 figures it is his military now, and he intends to use it against his enemies. Take cover.

“And,ya, we should have been out of Europe in 1960 at the latest. But I suspect German beer played a part in our staying....”

As a vet, you would/might have known what our mission was in Europe, prior to 1989 (end of USSR threat, to significant extent).

Between 1945 and 1989 we did have a valid reason to be in Europe.

You may not agree with that reason, or our mission, but administrations during both parties felt we did.

It could be said we won the Cold War by demonstrating our willingness to stand ready to respond to agression against our NATO allies.

No, he’s simply continuing the increase in Army and USMC troop strength begun under Bush.

Yes, that caught my attention immediately and wondered the same. Draft for 'our Military' or his; or both. But thought this an arrogant assumption of power, once again. (And we cannot forget his education promise from 'birth to college' or whatever; but a frightening assumption of ownership here.)

Of course, the 'Draft' will probably come back; as fewer will be signing up for Obama's military; no matter what branch. (Many who voted for Obama, could not 'get this'. They imagined instead, that they were, somehow, protecting their children here.)

His words at face value; are as empty as the 'suit' they are delivered from.

It was painful tonight; it all seemed a satirical exercise. The 'words'; the applause. . .the 'hope'; couched as it all was; in a rhetoric that has it's own meaning, promise and threat.

The 'sock puppets' enjoyed the evening and the praise has begun anew; and the sheeple will respond accordingly.

How does Obama increase these numbers; ‘hire’ more? Don’t think so. . .or just change the ‘expiration date’ on Service?

First: If he's pulling us out of Iraq to try to save money, where is he getting the money to hire more troops?

Reading your question literally, I think it probably answers itself.

Not to let the cat out of the bag, but the Army's in bad shape. I work for the Army, and can say that it's no mystery why it's in it's current condition. It's not big enough for the number of tasks it has. By reducing the tasks and increasing manpower, the Army will regenerate over time and regain a lot of capability we've lost over the last 8 years.

I don't know that I trust Obama to *do* that, but he's certainly *saying* the right thing.

He could drive all the heterosexual men and women from the military and increase the pay to all the deviates he could dig up.

Re the draft; no question it will come; the only question I see is when. Am guessing they will wait until a 'crisis' - fear to say what that could be; and/or they imply we have too few soldiers on ground - and depending how long Obama is Pres. that Will be true - and they will blame - Bush/Cheney - and begin the draft. . .

The Left hates all things Military; save for the power it affords them. Have only to read how Russia treats it's soldiers to understand the level of disregard and debasement of those who 'must serve' those who 'hate'.

I’m thinking their plan is to make Tricare so expensive we will willingly give it up to opt in to the new “National Health Plan.”
