I was at the 50th and 55th commemorations in 1995 and 2000 (this is USS JUNEAU LPD-10 in 2000). Got a small bottle of Iwo Jima sand on my book shelf. I have always been amazed so many men died to purchase such an ugly little piece of real estate. I felt like a little kid in the presence of the vets I met in 1995.
