Zimbabwe's 'highest ever inflation' (VIDEO)
BBC ^ | BBC

Zimbabwe's inflation is running at over 13 billion per cent per month and may soon have the highest inflation ever recorded.

People have taken to the streets in silent protest against the government amid claims of abductions.

The BBC is prevented form operating freely in Zimbabwe, but Karen Allen has been in the country to see the situation for herself.

I don’t get it. If my country’s money was inflating that much, I would stop striving for it. It would be “all barter” for me.

Maybe that IS what is happening now.

Scores of Zimbabwe farms 'seized'

There are said to be about 400 white-owned farms left in Zimbabwe

From your article: More than half Zimbabwe's population is in need of food aid and inflation - estimated by some economists at 10 sextillion per cent - has left its currency almost worthless.

Why don't they just say a "ga-jillion" or "ba-zillion"? Almost worthless?

5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!"

Zimbabwe also has a 94% unemployment rate- last month, it may have gone up since then.

The crazy thing is that most of the people still support Mugabe.

Barry Obama is Chavez and he is Mugabe. Those failures are headed to the US unless people wake up and throw the child rulers out.

We are on the same path.

When the majority dicides it can vote to take what a minority has by force - that is by taking under the cover of law - a country enters a death spiral. The minority producers are destroyed leaving only consumers that are unable to produce enough to meet their own needs.

It is hard to believe, that is where we are currently going.

You are correct!

I am scared and waiting for the Communist children in the White House to start focusing on our Nation's farms and farmers and start telling us the Government can run them in a better fashion.

I believe the ensuing starvation will be directed towards the conservative states to help the commies eliminate their opposition. It will have its own drawbacks as most of the farm states that feed us are conservative and thus the know-nothing liberals will have to be shipped to the farms to help out.

The resulting lack of knowledge and total incompetence will bring starvation in the US to a level only seen in the Ukraine and China during the heights or their revolutions.

I looked up this issue and found this:

“National debt in Zimbabwe increased to over 100% of GDP. To finance the National Debt, the Government started printing money; but, this only devalued the value of existing money and caused prices to rise.
Mugabe blamed inflation on ‘Greedy businesses’ demanding price rises. This encouraged him to set up price controls. These have been ineffective in preventing inflation.”

Sound familiar?

Now that you mention it....

What's sad is that they're now using U.S. greenbacks as currency. They're in for a rude awakening soon. How long will it be until the dollar sees rampant inflation?

The BBC is prevented form operating freely in Zimbabwe

I would do the same thing even if my country was solid as a rock.
Personally, I’d be inclined to hang the lot of them, but I’m sure that we would be getting reports from Hell before long..
