Located in the heart of Brooklyn, near Prospect Park, the Park Slope Food Coop is at the nexus of the borough's many diverse Jewish populations. From the liberal Jews of Park Slope to the Hasidic Jews of Crown Heights, the coop is one of the few places in Brooklyn where Jews of all denominations converge in a shared mission: to buy natural foods at reasonable prices. But the co-op's unusual Jewish character is being tested by a proposal to ban products bought from Israel, such as the persimmons and red peppers that are currently in the produce aisle. Since the Gaza operation, there has been a rash of campaigns around the world to divest from Israel and to boycott its products. At Hampshire College this month, a spat ensued when a pro-Palestinian student group erroneously announced that the school was the first American college to divest from Israel. Israeli tennis star Shahar Peer was denied a visa to play at a major tournament in Dubai, and Britain has experienced ongoing efforts to boycott Israeli academic institutions. Advertisement The proposal at the co-op is not likely to be economically meaningful; perhaps a few shipments of vegetables are at stake.

“Oven Jews”
I am Jewish and sometime I wonder what these knuckleheads are up to.
Maybe Ann Coulter had it correct in saying these people aren’t really Jewish.
Self loathing and nuts too.
As much as I despise JINOS, that’s just not an appropriate comment.
“I am Jewish and sometime I wonder what these knuckleheads are up to.”
Knucklehead would be an understatement. When Jews start boycotting Israel, you know the end is near.
Why of why cant our Jewish friends learn from history...why must they run to get to the front of the cattle car line.
Kapos.
No they're liberals.... Oh sorry! thats the same thing!!!!
If you'd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
..................
Bet they're not boycotting cell phones and wireless internet.
Madness.
These people are Sonderkommandos.
No Boycott of Israeli Products
The Food Coop management would like to clarify and correct misinformation in the press about the possibility of a boycott on Israeli products. The Park Slope Food Coop is not boycotting Israeli products.
Not only has the Coop's membership not voted to boycott Israeli products, a boycott has not at this point even been submitted for discussion at our monthly General Meeting -- the place where these types of decisions are made. This issue is not on the agenda and will not be discussed at the February 24 GM. The Coop is a democratically governed organization of close to 15,000 members. Any one of those members can submit an item for discussion at our monthly General Meeting. Three Coop members have suggested in our newsletter -- in the "Letters to the Editor" section -- a boycott of Israeli products. However, again, no member has yet submitted this item for discussion at one of our monthly General Meetings. Non-members do not have a role in the Coop's decision-making processes nor can they participate at General Meetings. Furthermore, decisions of this nature are not made by staff members, but only by the members who are present at our monthly General Meetings. When and if this issue is ever submitted by a member for discussion, the members who chair the monthly General Meeting will encourage all Coop members in attendance to attempt a civil discussion.
For more information, see this February 20 article in "The Brooklyn Paper."
Be they spoiled brats at Hampshire, sand gnats in Dubai, Jews that should know better in Brooklyn or leftist scum in Washington — they’re chicken-sh*t surrender monkeys all. Bibi’s all alone and he’s smart enough to know it. He’s a patriot and will not knuckle down to global condemnation — in fact I think he thrives on it. I hope he let’s Al-Hillary know this in no uncertain terms when he meets with her. I’d love to see her return from one of her first diplomatic mission with her tail between her piano legs.
Or maybe TOO Jewish. Israelis are a bit too manly for some Jews, the Woody Allen types who think of God as their invention.
I am always so amazed at the apathy of many American Jews for Israel and their inclinations towards a Liberal agenda that clearly runs against the interests of Jews and Israel.
The Great Schlep in the last election , the onslaught of Jewish members of the American media and in Hollywood.
Don’t they fear God ? Do they even believe? If they do not
then they are Jew in name only , and not seen by God as among His people . How can any Jew , in this day & age , feel sympathy for the agendas of radical Islam ? THis goes beyond sedition , it is spiritual treason and will be recorded in
The Book . Their day of accounting and atonement shall be bitter indeed .
Americans are nuts - some of them, anyway.
Americans urban (are there any other kind?), liberal (are there any other kind?) Jews, it has been said, live uptown, vote in the projects, and think with their bleeding, bleating sheep-hearts.
So what do they have in Israel that we don't have better here?
